During roleplay and in backstories much lore has been established that changes or extends the official Golarion canon. This page lists some details that may be relevant to character interactions or session planning.

Ancestries
Fetchling
Origin
Fetchlings evolved in the Shadow Plane, but many have also settled in the material world.

Culture
Not much has been established regarding the culture of fetchlings, since all resident ones mostly adapted to the practices of Onadbyr. It has come up that the name "Kayal" for fetchlings is known to them, but they have not shown any specific preference on how they want to be called.

Language
Shadowtongue is mostly based on Finnish, though this is not a hard rule for future fetchling players. It has also been implied that the human ancestors of fetchlings spoke a language resembling German.

The language has words for grey/white hair from age that differs from the colour descriptor, also implying the texture difference. Though even for fetchlings it is hard to visually tell apart hair greyed by age from the almost white hair of especially light haired fetchlings.

Biology
The inner parts of fetchlings are as colourless as their hair and skin. This means they blush and bleed grey.

Shadow
Fetchling shadows start out as non-sapient and barely sentient, slowly developing more independence over time together with getting the ability to touch solid objects. Fetchlings from the above-mentioned village usually refer to their shadow as it/its, with only very few shadows showing a preference for different pronouns once they are sapient enough to understand the concept.

It appears that a fetchling growing their personal power accelerates this process. Mechanically this is represented by the various shadow-related ancestry feats.

Poppet
Origin
Poppets occur typically unintentionally in nature, most often by children that attach deep personal emotions to inanimate objects. The process of attaching this Core Emotion to a Poppet is not something that can be forced, making them quite rare.

Culture
Due to their strange and child-like appearance, Poppets typically live solitary lives with their Person. Even after their Person has passed, most Poppets will continue to live in solitude due to fear of outsiders treating them poorly. With the help of Kiara the stuffed animal Red Panda, more Poppets have begun arriving in Onadbyr as it has been identified as a safe bastion for their kind.

Core Emotion
What makes a Poppet a poppet is the Core Emotion instilled in them by their creator, often referred to as their Person to others though most Poppets will pick up various terms of endearment when speaking directly with their Person. This Core Emotion is something that the Person believes deeply and attaches to their inanimate object through moments of trauma or hardship. This Emotion is often positive, but Poppets can be made with Emotions such as intense hatred or revenge. Whatever Emotion creates them, one fact is true. A Poppet will always love their Person.

Biology
Poppets can be made from any type of inanimate object in which a child or adult could form an attachment with. This often takes the form of a stuffed animal, wooden or metal dolls and sometimes even more mundane everyday items. Though these items typically once animated tend to shift their form into something that is capable of movement.

Heritages
Changelings
Changelings, or children of a hag mothers, are most often recognized by their heterochromatic eyes- one of which always corresponds to their hag mother. While Changelings are not discriminated against in Onadbyr, that may not be the case elsewhere- especially in settlements where hags are particularly reviled. The specifics of the backstory are up to the player.

In Kelek, Changelings are haunted by the Call, a psychic urging by their mother to join her coven. The Call serves as a connection between the Changeling and their hag mother, though the specifics of the connection are yet unknown. It can cause nightmarish visions that haunt the Changeling, visions that prey on their deepest desires, or even just seemingly sourceless urges to leave their life behind. The Call grows stronger when a Changeling is near a domain of their mother, or their mother herself. How this is interpreted is up to the player. When the Call is at its strongest, the Changeling may be unable to control themselves, possibly losing memory of that time. The only way to completely stop the Call is through the death of the mother, which, if desired, can be handled through a session or arc ran by a GM. To start such an arc, open a Ticket to find an interested GM.

Calendar
Each month in real life matches one season consisting of 90 days in Kelek. The game started in Spring 223 (March 2023). It is therefore currently .

The in-game calendar is based off of the Absalom Reckoning of Golarion.

Days of the Week
* Sunday: Generally a day of rest and one devoted to religious observances.

Months
Each month lasts 30 days.
Spring
Autumn
* Rova: The beginning of autumn is named after the violent god Rovagug. Dwarves dispute naming a month after such a destructive and evil deity and instead name the ninth month Torawsh after their creator god, Torag.
* Lamashan: Named for Lamashtu, the goddess of monsters.
* Neth: Named for Nethys, the two-faced god of magic.

By default Kelek does not allow rare options, but through in-game events and brave acts of heroics, they can be unlocked for the entire server.

Ancestry
Rare ancestries are typically unlocked through month long events that require the associates to complete multiple missions.

Automaton
Automatons were the first unlocked rare ancestry that were unlocked on the 24th of April, 2023, by the team of the Journey to Arrepo missions. In Kelek, Automatons are highly advanced robots surviving from before the most recent cataclysm, or were newly manufactured and transported to Onadbyr through a one way teleportation portal. All automatons in Kelek were created by Arrepo Manufacturing, a now defunct companion that is fully automated by automatons, and is situated on the edge of the Chron volcano. The physical location of the manufacturing plant is no longer accessible. Your automaton could have recently awoken, drawn to Onadbyr by the Lord of Carnage coming online, or you could have been restored by a kind and loving tinkerer, or a madman who wanted you to kill. Either way, your aesthetics are chrome, high technology, and inhuman features. You are powered by a core at your center, which is the equivalent of your soul giving you free will. Your core is itself powered by a shard of divinity, a tiny portion of a god's physical being. You can choose to be powered by a specific god's power, or just divine energy in general. You might not know the exact origin of your shard of divinity. You are not beholden to the god, or their tenets, that powers your core.

Sprite
Available as of the 25th of August, 2023.

A disturbance near Velborough opened a temporary gateway from the First World from which a host of fey including sprites and linnorms emerged before collapsing again, trapping those on the other side in the world of Kelek. The opening of the gateway also allowed the voices of the Eldest through; heard for the first time on the material plane in generations. The calls echoed around Kelek heard by all fey and fey descendants shouting orders, begging requests, whispering secrets or simply singing their song until the portal closed and their voices were silenced again. Spurred to action by the calls of the Eldest, a number of sprites around Kelek have set out to interact with the mortal world more closely.

When creating a sprite you should detail out the following:
* Were you already on the material plane or did you emerge through the portal near Onadbyr? If you were already here, what were you doing? If not, why did you decide to travel to the material plane?
* What call drove you to act and for what purpose? These tasks are typically esoteric and difficult to achieve, such as collecting 10,000 colors of flowers or reciting specific poems in specific places in the world.
* What is your relationship to the Eldest whose call you answered?

Poppet
Available as of 21st of December, 2024.

An extremely rare creature to come across, Poppets have been recently appearing in number in the city of Onadbyr. Following multiple expeditions in which various Associates assisted Poppets in their seemingly random requests, the Poppet known as Kiara the Stuffed Animal Red Panda has begun directing other Poppets without a place to go to move to the city of Onadbyr. While their stature is small and their personalities can often feel childish, there exists a hidden depth to what drives a Poppet. Each carries with them their own unique spark leading them to settle into fairly mundane life in the city. However... some feel called to a higher purpose and instead seek out becoming Associates in their own right.

A Poppet is a manifestation a singular core emotion that has been poured into an inanimate stuffed animal, doll or similar mundane object. They are typically made unintentionally by children who latch onto a particular doll and attach a feeling or deep emotion to them. Once animated, this core emotion becomes the basis by which the Poppet lives and breaths, their existence for being. Poppets are naturally tied to their creator, often referred to as their 'Person'. For this reason, if a Poppet still has their Person with them, they are unlikely to become an adventurer. As seen by the few Poppets that Associates have met, these core emotions can vary from feelings wanderlust, to maternal love and even to passion for knowledge. While this can sometimes makes Poppets appear simpleminded, the depth of their passion is unmatched by any other Ancestry.

When creating a Poppet you should detail the following in your ticket:
*What is your Poppet's Core Emotion? This Core Emotion does not necessarily have to be positive, but even a Poppet made from a negative emotion would still be innately attached to their Person, championing their Person's feelings as theirs.
*What has happened to your person? If they haven't died, then why is your Poppet leaving their side? Even in cases where their Person is sick, a Poppet is more likely to stay by their side to the end than leave them alone.
*With some rare exceptions, Poppets wear their hearts on their sleeves. How does your Poppet represent their Core Emotion in either their appearance or their actions?

Heritages
Beastkin
Unlocked on the 19th of January, 2024

After the fall of The Father of Werecreatures, leadership of the werecreature camp was taken over by his daughter, Maera. Under her leadership the camp is no longer isolationist, though they are still somewhat nomadic. This has allowed Beastkin like her to venture out into the world and live their own lives again, free of the forces that always drew them back to the camp; Back to The Father's immense presence. Though the call is gone, its presence still lingers, always reminding you where your true home is.

As a beastkin, you need to consider these questions:

* What is your relation to the werecreature camp? Were you born there? Did the call draw you there, or have you just arrived?

* How did you come to become a beastkin? Were you born one within the camp, or maybe even outside it? Did a werecreature's bite affect you differently than others?

* What kind of beastkin are you? The Father could make someone a werecreature of anything animal-like, but this does not change your size beyond the norm.

Reflection
Unlocked on the 15th of September, 2024

Morph-Risen Lineage
Not too far from Onadbyr, a weird cave, seemingly organic on the inside, began spewing out crabs. People soon discovered that, if you truly desired it, it would allow yourself to be changed to what you wish to be. (Within certain limits, anyway.)

As a reflection with the morph-risen lineage, you need to consider these questions:

* What drove you to seek out a creepy cave with the hopes of changing what you are? Gender dysphoria? A true desire to overcome a limitation of your body? Or perhaps something else entirely?

* The transformation the cave grants is good, outright certain to make you feel better about yourself as it reads your desires as it changes you, but it is not perfect. What is some issue with your new body you are not quite happy about (even though it was still absolutely worth it)?

* While your new form seems to only be based on your own will, in truth it at least somewhat resembles an existing being somewhere in the world. Even though you may never meet them, consider who they are and how you would respond if you found them.

Other or No Lineage
Powerful adventurers managed to tear themselves out of nothingness in which they had been thrust before. In the process the barriers between existence and non-existence have been weakened, and others who lacked the strength to hold on to themselves on their own managed to spill out as well.<br />
These remains of people who once existed return to a world that has forgotten them, replaced them, with memories of a life that never has been.

As a reflection with any other lineage than the one above, or no lineage at all, you need to consider these questions:

* You once lived your life, until suddenly you weren't anymore. What event were you involved in at the time, and what event related to Gnome Ann replaced it?

* Similarly, who took your place? Remember that those beings created in the vicinity of Gnome Ann tend to be less serious or at least less threatening than the original that you are. How do you feel about them, do you hate them for replacing you?

* Are there any people around you were close to before your existence was erased? Has your replacement taken your spot with them? Do you wish to rebuild your relationships?

* If you take a lineage feat, also explain how it fits into your story.

GMs, or Gamemasters, run sessions in Kelek. GMs are the lifeblood of any living server. Without Expeditions being run no one would be able to play and the world wouldn't be living. If you're interested in running your own sessions in the world of Kelek read on to find out how to apply to become a GM. Don't worry if you have little to no experience, we have many experienced GMs that are happy to help new players take the leap into running games.

Becoming a GM
Steps
Step 1. Open a Ticket
Open up a ticket and express your interest in becoming a GM. Once the process starts we'll ask a variety of questions and require a few things from you. Don't worry about having everything ready before you open your ticket, the beginning of the process is a discussion between you and the Firekeeper team.
Step 2. (We) Survey the existing GMs
The existing GMs set the tone and direction of many of the storylines in Kelek, their voices are important when considering what kind tone and what kinds of expeditions are going to be offered for players. GMs are typically very active and interact with most players and other GMs. The GMs determine if you've been around long enough to get a feel for how the server runs and if your style fits into the world of Kelek.
Step 3. (You) Prepare a Concept
Most likely some idea made you interested in running a game within Kelek. Here you will begin to prepare the nitty gritty of your [[Expedition] and present the general concept of your session to the other GMs in your ticket.
Step 4. Run Your Trial Session
Assuming you have been approved to run your session, this will be your first dip into becoming an official GM. Trial sessions are overseen by a Storyteller, and at the end of the session the players involved are given an evaluation to complete. If there are no issues in the evaluation, the prospective GM becomes a full-fledged GM.

Rorikstag: /* Labeling your Expedition */

The difficulty of an Expedition is a fine line to toe. Make it too easy and it isn’t compelling. Make it too hard and it feels frustrating. Failing an Expedition should be a very real consequence but shouldn’t always result in heavy punishments. Here’s some bullet points to keep in mind when planning out your expeditions.

Guidelines
*Have expedition objectives not be a binary ‘Succeed’ or ‘Fail’.
**Instead, incorporate degrees of success. Maybe the party successfully escorted a merchant caravan - but a bad fight lost them one of the carts and now the caravan master doesn’t want to pay full price or maybe an archaeologist felt insulted by the party during a dungeon delve, so they don’t tip the PCs off to a hidden door that might have led to treasure.

*Total Party Wipe, not Total Party Kill.
**You should never make it your goal for a session to result in a TPW. However, poor rolls and bad decision making compounded onto an already difficult expedition could result in all the PCs being knocked down.
**Plan a contingency for a party wipe that doesn’t involve every PC dying. Most creatures don’t want to massacre for massacre’s sake, nor is it fun to lose an entire party due to a single bad combat. The goblins might ransom the PC’s back to the town for a considerable price, the bandit chief decides to permanently scar the PCs as a warning, the cult strips the PCs of their equipment and dumps them in the woods.
**Consequences from a TPW should be in most cases salvageable. Money from a ransom can be repaid, Scars can be healed with a mystical flower that blooms only on the highest peaks, stolen items can be retrieved after the guild rallies and sets out to destroy the cult again.
**In some cases a TPW may require a Deus ex machina to not result in a TPK. Perhaps the PCs were overrun by a horde of flesh eating ghouls. In situations like these exercise your best judgment for what will lead to the most interesting narrative outcome. Does a mysterious knight saving the downed party at the last moment cheapen the impact and weight of the expedition?

*Stakes don’t have to only be a decrease in HP.
**A session may never even involve combat. The difficulty comes from the social or environmental puzzles presented by the storyteller.
**Be mindful that puzzles are also prone to being too easy to be engaging or difficult enough to only frustrate. It’s ok to aim for a PC to be frustrated, it isn’t ok for you to try to make players frustrated.

Labeling your Expedition
Kelek is broken up into four different groups of players, known as the Tier of Play which consists of 4 levels of characters. This means a single session could include a lvl 5 character partnering with a lvl 9 character. For this reason it is important to include what level of challenge the Expeditions being run might include. An Expedition Event is labeled with those two pieces of information, the Tier of Play and the Difficulty; Easy, Medium, or Hard. There aren't any restrictions on the difficulty you can attend as long as the Expedition is listed for your Tier of Play, but keep in mind lower level characters may be more challenged in high difficulty Expeditions.

Over the years, Onadbyr has built itself up a sizeable economy.

Available Shops
NPC Shops
These shops are ran by NPCs, and thus their inventories will typically remain unchanging. Exceptions are Rocco's Pawn Shop and The Caravansary.

* Apothecary, for all your basic medical needs.
Player Shops
Using Karma a player character can create their own shop in the Foundry to sell whatever they wish to sell. These are typically items the character has taken the time to craft, and thus the store is a way to hopefully make some gold for their efforts. The process to open a new character shop can be found on the Player Shops page.

* Berta's Blades and Bargains (Berta Stormhammer)
* Chrys' Herbal Remedies (Chrysanthemum Lavandula Orchidaceae Delphinium Helianthus)

Retired Associate Shops
Retired Character shops are purchased with Karma, but have a stable, limited inventory. Players can either convert their existing shop into a Retired Character shop, or use Karma to purchase one. The process and guidelines for a Retired Character shop can be found on the Player Shops page.
For more information crafting with Precious Materials, please refer to Crafting.

As Precious Materials are meant to represent rare and unlikely finds, they are typically only available through expeditions or for sale at The Caravansary on special occasions. However, in some cases expeditions have unlocked mines which allow open access to the available material for the standard price. The following table lists all precious materials and which have been fully unlocked through discovery of an available mine.

If you are interested in searching for another currently locked precious material, please open a Ticket with Storytellers to discuss specifics.

Crafting is a Downtime activity that any character can do using the Crafting skill (with some exceptions). The official rules for Crafting can be found in the Craft page on Archives of Nethys.

Crafting from a Formula
For every item in the game there exists a formula that can be used to craft that item.

The DC for Crafting an item is equal to the Earn Income DC for the task level equal to the item's level. The Earn Income table can be found here. Please note that this table adds level to proficiency, so subtract the level from the DC to get the PWL DC.
* Note: In Kelek, we do not adjust the DC based on rarity. For example, all level 1 items, be they Common, Uncommon, or Rare, will be DC 14.
What you can Craft
From the Player Core 1 Rulebook:

"To Craft an item, you must meet the following requirements:
* The item is your level or lower. An item that doesn’t list a level is level 0. If the item is 9th level or higher, you must be a master in Crafting, and if it’s 17th or higher, you must be legendary.
* The item must be common, or you must otherwise have access to it (such as by having a formula).
* You have an appropriate set of tools and, in many cases, a workshop. For example, you need access to a smithy to forge a metal shield, or an alchemist’s lab to produce alchemical items.
* You must supply raw materials worth at least half the item’s Price. You always expend at least that amount of raw materials when you Craft successfully. If you’re in a settlement, you can usually spend currency to get the amount of raw materials you need, except in the case of rarer Precious Materials.

While any character can Craft most basic items, some require specific feats.
* Items with the "Alchemical" tag, such as ammunition, elixirs, mutagens, or bombs require the Alchemical Crafting skill feat.
* Items with the "Magical" tag, such as potions, runes, or spell scrolls require the Magical Crafting skill feat.
* Items with the "Snare" tag require the Snare Crafting skill feat.
* Items with the "Tattoo" tag require either the Tattoo Artist skill feat or both the Magical Crafting and Specialty Crafting skill feats, choosing artistry as your specialty.
* Items with the "Graft" tag require the Graft Technician skill feat.

Preparing to Craft
Before you start, make sure you have the formula on your character sheet, and should have an idea of the following:

Quantity:
Permanent items are crafted one at a time, consumables can be crafted in batches of up to 4, and non-magical ammunition can be crafted in batches of up to 10.

* Note: Material costs are per-item, not per batch. Keep this in mind when crafting multiple items at once.

Days of Setup:

If you do not have the formula for an item, the Days of Setup is 2.

If you have the formula for an item, the Days of Setup is 1.

Materials Required:
For most items, this will just be a gold cost equal to half the value of the item. Some items, however, may require specific components, such as the casting of a spell.

Your Modifier:
The modifier used to craft an item is equal to your Crafting skill modifier plus any applicable bonuses. Bonuses can come from feats, such as Specialty Crafting or Seasoned, and/or items such as Sterling Artisan Tools or a Crafter's Eyepiece. These modifiers follow the same rules as all modifiers in Pathfinder.

The Assurance feat can be used for Crafting, which results in a roll of 10 + your proficiency modifier.
* Note: This does not add any other bonuses, penalties, or modifiers, including your ability modifier or any item bonuses.

Reducing Cost: Once the Days of Setup have passed, you can spend as many days as you wish reducing the cost. The gold per day you can reduce the cost is equal to the amount of gold you would earn with the Earn Income activity using Crafting (or the skill used to Craft the item) at your level on a success, or at your level + 1 on a critical success. The Earn Income table can be found here. It is highly recommended that you only reduce cost if you critically succeed, as you could get the same amount of gold from a normal success much more simply by Earning Income.

Process
1. To craft an item, open a Ticket in the Discord.

2. Once opened, fill out the following template for each unique item you're looking to craft:

Character:<br>
Item:<br>
Item level:<br>
DC:<br>
Assurance?: (Y/N)<br>
Crafting modifier (If Assurance, just put Proficiency modifier):<br>
Quantity:<br>
Cost per item:<br>
Formula?: (Y/N)<br>
Days of Setup:<br>
Days Reducing Cost:

3. If you aren't using Assurance, a Storyteller will need to log in to Foundry to witness your rolls. To roll, go to the Crafting tab of your character sheet, double check the quantity (if rolling for a batch), and click the hammer icon next to the formula of the item you want to Craft. Foundry will automatically roll to craft the item and determine the degree of success. Clicking 'Pay Full Costs and Craft' will automatically deduct the gold value from your character sheet and add the item(s) to your inventory. If you would like to spend days to reduce the cost, click 'Pay Material Costs and Craft'. Foundry will tell you how many days you will need to spend for the additional cost to be zero, as well as how much is reduced per day. It is recommended that you only reduce cost on a critical success, if at all. Either way, let the Storyteller know if you intend to do so. Note: If you choose to reduce cost for less than the maximum amount of days, you will need to manually remove the remaining gold from your sheet.

If you are using Assurance, a Storyteller will approve the ticket and you may add the items on your own.

Critical Success: Your attempt is successful. Each additional day spent Crafting reduces the materials needed to complete the item by an amount based on your level + 1 and your proficiency rank in Crafting on the Earn Income table.

Success: Your attempt is successful. Each additional day spent Crafting reduces the materials needed to complete the item by an amount based on your level and your proficiency rank in Crafting on the Earn Income table.

Failure: You fail to complete the item. You can salvage the raw materials you supplied for their full value. If you want to try again, you must start over.

Critical Failure: You fail to complete the item. You ruin 10% of the raw materials you supplied, but you can salvage the rest. If you want to try again, you must start over.

Obtaining a Formula
The official rules for Formulas can be found on the Formulas page of Archives of Nethys.
Formulas can be obtained in the following ways:
* Purchased from Shops, such as the Caravansary or Apothecary
* As loot from a mission
* Copying a formula from another character
* Disassembling an item
* Inventing a formula (Inventor feat only)

Note: All Level 0 Common formulas are included in the Basic Crafter's Book, which is sold at The Well Worn Spine (& General Store.

Sharing and Copying Formulas
Formulas may be copied from another player character at no material cost. The opportunity to do so may be freely given, as part of a trade, or sold.

Disassembling an Item
Disassembling an Item is taking apart an item for the sake of learning the formula.

Disassembling an item uses the same modifier, DC, and days of setup as though you were crafting that item, but the material cost is that of a formula of that level, rather than the item itself. On a failure, however, the item is lost, per the degrees of success below. The material cost of the formula is not paid unless the formula is successfully crafted.

Critical Success (REVERSE ENGINEER FEAT): Your attempt is successful. You Craft the formula and pay the material cost. At the same time, you reassemble the item. Each additional day spent Crafting reduces the materials needed to complete the formula by an amount based on your level + 1 and your proficiency rank in Crafting on the Earn Income table.

Critical Success (STANDARD): Your attempt is successful. You Craft the formula and pay the material cost. You are left with disassembled raw materials equal to half the item's price. You can use the value of these materials to Craft the formula, as the material cost for reassembling the item, or simply as gold. Each additional day spent Crafting reduces the materials needed to complete the formula by an amount based on your level + 1 and your proficiency rank in Crafting on the Earn Income table.

Success: You Craft the formula and pay the material cost. You are left with the disassembled raw materials equal to half the item's price. You can use the value of these materials to Craft the formula, as the material cost for reassembling the item, or simply as gold. Each additional day spent Crafting reduces the materials needed to complete the formula by an amount based on your level and your proficiency rank in Crafting on the Earn Income table.

Failure: You fail to Craft the formula, and are left with the raw materials equal to half the item's price. You cannot try to disassemble the item again unless you have another item of the same type, and the raw materials cannot be used to reassemble the item unless you otherwise acquire the formula.

Critical Failure: As a failure, but you waste 10% of the raw materials you'd normally be able to salvage.

Crafting a Formula
Characters with the Inventor feat can invent a formula for any common item their level or lower. Uncommon and Rare formulas may only be invented if the character has possession of or has Means of Access to the item in question, as detailed in the sections below. Inventing a formula for an item uses the same modifier, DC*, and days of setup as though you were crafting that item without a formula, but the material cost is that of a formula of that level, rather than the item itself. The material cost is not paid unless the formula is successfully crafted. Open a Ticket if attempting to Invent an Uncommon or Rare item.

Critical Success: Your attempt is successful. Each additional day spent Crafting reduces the materials needed to complete the formula by an amount based on your level + 1 and your proficiency rank in Crafting on the Earn Income table.

Success: Your attempt is successful. Each additional day spent Crafting reduces the materials needed to complete the formula by an amount based on your level and your proficiency rank in Crafting on the Earn Income table.

Failure: You fail to complete the formula. You can salvage the raw materials you supplied for their full value. If you want to try again, you must start over.

Critical Failure: You fail to complete the formula. You ruin 10% of the raw materials you supplied, but you can salvage the rest. If you want to try again, you must start over.
*Note: All common level 0 items can be purchased as a unit in the Basic Crafter's Book for 1sp.

Crafting Uncommon and Rare Formulas
* Uncommon and Rare formulas may only be Invented by a character if one of two conditions are met:<br>
# They have the item in their possession.<br>
# They have a Means of Access to the item.<br>
* *The DCs for inventing Uncommon and Rare formulas follow the DC difficulty adjustments listed here (normally not used for crafting in Kelek).
* Inventing a formula for an item in the character's possession will not require the disassembly of the item nor consume the item, so the character may try again as long as they maintain possession of the item. See Crafting a Formula for more information on crafting formulas.
* Inventing a formula through Means of Access requires opening a Ticket for Firekeeper verification, even if using Assurance.
* Characters are not permitted to Invent the formulas for Unique or homebrewed items, even if they have them in their possession.

Access
* Monks have Access to uncommon weapons with the Monk trait
* Inventors have Access to uncommon items with the Gadget trait
* Gunslingers have Access to uncommon firearms, ammunition, and attachments up to level 1
* Characters can gain Access to uncommon ancestry weapons through Weapon Familiarity feats
* Characters can gain Access to organization-specific uncommon items through that organization's dedication feat.
* Examples of means of Access are: Gnome Weapon Familiarity for the gnome flickmace, the Hellknight Dedication for Hellknight Half-Plate, or the Inventor class for items with the Gadget trait.
* Per AoN: "Feats that grant access to weapons with ancestry traits (such as Dwarven Weapon Familiarity), do not grant access to firearms with the listed trait unless the character separately has access to firearms. The reverse is also true, that general access to firearms does not grant access to ancestry-specific weapons. If you have access to firearms, you can gain access to firearms with an ancestry trait (dwarf, elf, goblin, etc.) by selecting an ancestry feat or other option that specifically grants it (for example, to gain access to a clan pistol, take the Clan Pistol feat or Dwarven Weapon Familiarity feat)."

Deconstructing an Item
Deconstructing an Item is used to gain raw materials out of an item, rather than a formula. The official rules for deconstructing an item can be found on the Deconstruct page of Archives of Nethys.

"Praise unto the Gods!"

An extremely devout man of faith, no one is quite sure where he came from but he has been present since the revitalization of Onadbyr. From the moment the streets were first walked, Gregorios was on the streets preaching the good word.

The good word? As a proper God-fearing man, Gregorios is of the opinion that the world came to the failure that it is now because the Gods were not strong enough to protect us. Why where they not strong enough? Because our lack of faith disturbed them! To live in a world where individuals could choose not to worship any higher power is unthinkable! Now we mortals suffer under constant duress because the Gods lack the strength they once had. The only proper solution is to humble ourselves before the Deities and beg forgiveness.

Gregorios has been nominated to the position of Councilman of the Round Table and is responsible for managing the internal affairs of the faith and worship in the city. He has been accepted into this position for one reason, he is non-denominational. He accepts the worship of any deity, even ones that are recognized as evil, so long as one worships something greater than themselves he is content. His primary goal at the end of the day is religious freedom in all its forms. Everyone everywhere should have the ability to worship as they please.

His day-to-day activities see him visiting the multiple churches and shrines across the city to maintain proper faith within its walls. He is known to occasionally hire individuals to go beyond the walls of the city and fetch faith-based artifacts or secure traveling priests. All in the good name of the Gods who love us so. Praise Be!
Gwenevere M, one of the Associates of the Round Table, is a tall Grave Orc woman. With pale skin and bright pink eyes, her stature and resting bitch face gives most the impression she does not desire your attention. She is often found surrounded in a plume of smoke as she appears to be a chain smoker. When not smoking she is seen wearing a thick black face mask that resembles a lower skeletal face.

Gwen can be found in the abandoned and destroyed neighborhoods outside Little Monarch. She keeps to herself unless there is something she wants.

Those with the senses for undead, will often feel an unnerving feeling coming from Gwen. And whenever Gwen gets serious, a black-ish smoke will be seen pouring out which sends a strange shiver down those that see it.

Skills
Gwen herself is a backliner that focuses on summoning her Eidolon and then calling her Undead Companion and then summoning more Undead. She focuses on putting as many bodies on the field as possible in order to form a wall of meat for enemies to get through. She is an expert in Religion and Athletics and mostly uses her magical skills to keep the battlefield busy. Her undead nature means her spells focus on void magic and void healing to keep them up.

History
In Onadbyr
Zeal arrived in Onadbyr with aspirations of becoming a Hellknight after he found a forgotten shrine to the Godclaw deep in the woods. After succeeding in his trial against a Barbazu at the Order of the Nail Citadel in Lancaster, he returned to Onadbyr and founded his own order, the Order of the Godclaw. When Zeal was enlisted to help found the fledgling community of Desperate Hope, his order moved there.

As there are no known currently active orders, Zeal serves as the Lictor and trainer of all Hellknight Armigers, until they pass their own tests and join the Order of the Godclaw or found their own order.

In Lancaster
The Order of the Nail ruled Lancaster for an unknown period of time alongside a puppet monarch until the city fell to undead in 184.

Ranks
Lictor/Vicarius
The lictor (or vicarius if promoted from the signifers) is the general of a Hellknight order. Currently, the Order of the Gate is the only existing branch of the Hellknights led by a vicarius.

Master/Mistress of Blades
The master of blades or mistress of blades is the field marshal and answers only to the lictor of the Hellknight order.

Paravicar
Paravicar is the leader of an order's signifers, equal in rank to a master or mistress of blades and answers only to the lictor of the Hellknight order.

Paralictor
Paralictors are Hellknight officers ranking below the master of blades or the paravicar.

Maralictor
Maralictors are Hellknight officers ranking below the paralictors.

Hellknight
Hellknights are the rank-and-file seasoned knights of the order.

Signifer
Signifers are the Hellknights who are capable to use the either arcane or divine magic.

Armiger
Armigers compose the order's largest population and they are not yet full members of the order. To gain the status of Hellknight, armigers must first pass a trial known as The Test. In the Test a would-be Hellknight must fight against a devil summoned from the depths of Hell.

The Hellknight Test
To prove themselves worthy, an aspiring Hellknight must best a summoned devil of equal or greater strength in single combat. This typically occurs at level 5 in preparation for the Hellknight Dedication at level 6, or at level 6 before taking the Dedication.

Preparation
Those taking the test are allowed to carry into battle any equipment they wish. Additionally, they may receive the benefits of allies’ magic, so long as it is cast prior to the test’s start. The ceremony preceding the test typically lasts over an hour, meaning that spells with a duration in minutes typically wear off before combat begins.

Due to the long history of Tests, it is expected that the Armiger is provided with an intimate understanding of the Vordine or Barbazu they may be facing. If a Test is held for an Armiger of greater strength, they may not have such a luxury, though they are likely to have some knowledge of the fiend in question.

Although Armigers have not yet earned the right to wear true Hellknight armor, plate armor is usually made available to them. Many devils have a reach beyond five feet, making polearms common during the tests. Ranged weapons are permitted during the test, but considering the trial’s relatively small boundaries, their use is generally considered a poor strategy.

Most devils prove exceptionally resistant to mortal weaponry, except those forged of silver or blessed by holy deities. To prepare for this, many Armigers invest in silver weapons or silver salves. Many high-ranking Hellknight officers also have access to Holy weapons—either their own or relics of the Order—that they might lend to favored Armigers. While this isn’t technically against the test’s strictures, those who blatantly make use of weapons other than their own risk losing the respect of future peers and overseers.

None of the test’s rules restrict Armigers from making use of spells, potions, wands, or other magical supplements during the test, either to defeat their foe or to enhance their abilities. What is forbidden, though, is anything entering the testing grounds after the trial has begun—including another’s magic. So long as an Armiger gains the effects of another’s spell before the testing ceremony begins, it’s permitted. However, the test is preceded by a lengthy explanation of its history, purpose, merits, and rules, which alone might last over an hour. As such, spells with durations of only a few minutes usually expire before an Armiger’s battle begins. This makes longer-lasting spells preferred.

Even more dreaded than death by a devil's weapon or claws is the slow, weakening wearing down an Armiger faces should he suffer from Infernal Wounds. Knowing that drawing out the fight isn’t in their best interest, most Armigers attempt to
end the battle as swiftly as possible. Additionally, they usually bring Blood Boosters, knowing that it can be especially difficult to rid oneself of an Infernal Wound.

Ceremony
The ceremony takes place at dawn on the Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Autumn Equinox, or Winter Solstice. It is a solemn, joyless affair, overseen by the Lictor of the appropriate Order or the next highest ranking officer, administered by a Signifier of the appropriate Order or a caster of the Lictor's choosing, and attended by all available members of the Order.

The overseeing Lictor will give a lengthy explanation of the history, purpose, merits, and rules of the Test, which alone might last over an hour.

Test
The Test takes place in a clearly marked arena with a diameter of 30 feet. Once the initial ceremony is complete, the Armiger enters this area and signals that they are ready. Then a Signifier of the appropriate order, if available, summons a devil of the same level of the aspiring Hellknight into the arena. The devil is bound to the same area as the Armiger, and announces their intent to show no mercy. While summons can be taken under direct control by their summoner, taking control of the devil during a Hellknight Test is extremely frowned upon, as it may be seen as meddling.

If the Armiger leaves the arena willingly before the Test is complete, they fail the test. If any other than the Armiger or devil enter the arena before the Test is complete, it is also considered a failure. In either case, there is likely to be a punishment delivered to those involved. In addition, during the test, should an Armiger receive any aid from outside the testing ring, they will be disqualified and imprisoned (along with their conspirators). Such cheaters typically face a brief trial and execution.

Results
If the devil is slain, the Armiger will recite their memorized vows, and, if determined worthy, will be inducted into the Order. Once inducted, they may don the formidable Hellknight Armor associated with their Order.

If the Armiger falls, they die. For most Armigers, death in the test is a damning judgment— proof that the initiate was not fit for service. In rare cases, slain Armigers who have impressed a high-ranking Hellknight or who are owed a debt of gratitude by such leaders might be resurrected at their superior’s expense. This isn’t against the test’s rules or the greater laws of the Measure and the Chain, but it usually looks like mercy—potentially casting doubt on the resolve of both the Armiger and his benefactor. Only in exceptional cases, when matters of justice and honor are plainly at stake, are such second chances entertained.

The battle doesn’t always end at the test’s conclusion. Infernal Wounds and various diseases are known to be employed by devils, and allied clerics are often made available at Hellknight citadels should survivors need to avail themselves of healing.

Alternatives
If an existing Hellknight witnesses an ally defeat a devil of comparable skill in single combat, they may vouch for the ally having completed the test. The Hellknight who vouches for this ally must swear it to be truth, and if it is revealed otherwise, both will be punished equally.
We Associates were sent to continue clear out sections of swamps north of the city. Locals report creatures coming from the swamp and attacking nearby animals, leaving a horrible stench afterwards.

Upon arriving at the heart of the swamp, Aleth began to scout the area while Bodrukk and Grist further investigated the waters. Kali made attempts to search for magic while Orion and Gwen covered the grounds. The area appears to be a standard swamp, some parts of islands among the water. Nothing of interesting upon first inspection.

Bodrukk identifies tracks along the island, Orion was able to identify the tracks as belonging to a creature called a Catoblepas. A creature of filth that hides in large bodies of water and attempts to drown its victims. In preparation for this outcome, Orion casts Water Walk on the party while various members drink potions for fighting off diseases and poisons.

Stepping onto the nearby water, Grist alerts the creatures hiding underneath. The three monsters immediately burst forth and use their breath as a weapon against the gathered members.

Gwen falls victim to all three attacks alongside Grist who is equally hurt. Bodrukk seems resistant to their effects while Aleth suffers heavy repercussions from their stench.

Engaging in combat, Kali almost instantly destroys one with a powerful blast of lightning. Bodrukk however is inundated in the three creatures attacking him. He quickly begins to crumble under their barrage. Gwen struggles to keep herself conscious, Archer is instantly crushed by the tail of one of the creatures while Sera attempts to use a thurible and cover the area in mist.

Both Grist and Kali make attempts to heal Bodrukk but due to the mist caused by Gwen their attempts fail. Gwen is able to heal the entire group while Aleth uses fireballs to keep the Catoblepas distracted.

The creatures fight back with great strength, bringing Bodrukk unconscious while Kali manages to deliver a second power strike to another Catoblepas. Both Bodrukk and Grist manage to apply a steady pressure until the beasts are finally slain. Signs hint that there are others of the same creature but the party lacked enough resources to continue the pursuit.

**Performance Review:
for lack of cohesive teamwork displayed, seek improvement in all areas
**Kali - Exceeds Expectations
for expert use of magic and implementation of resources
**Bodrukk - Needs Improvement
for improper spacing during the encounter, seek improvement in placement and space manipulation
**Grist - Meets Expectations

**Gwenevere M - Unacceptable
**Kali - Exceeds Expectations
**Bodrukk - Needs Improvement
**Grist - Meets Expectations
**Aleth - Meets Expectations
**Orion - Meets Expectations
