			Growing up amidst the clang of cargo being loaded and the laughter of sailors, Miles learned the value of hard work and resourcefulness. His parents often spoke of the ship's lavish cargo and the vast wealth that exchanged hands during their trade missions. Yet, as he observed Captain Blackthorn, he began to recognize the captain's relentless greed. The man would prioritize profit above all else, often at the expense of his crew's well-being.

			As a young and curious observer, Miles couldn't shake off the feeling that the crew's dedication was being exploited for the captain's personal gain. He overheard whispers among the crew about the shady dealings and unethical practices that lined Blackthorn's pockets with gold. This growing resentment fueled a growing desire within Miles – a desire for autonomy, freedom, and a life untethered from the clutches of Blackthorn's avarice.

			The turning point came when Captain Blackthorn hatched a particularly audacious plan. He intended to hoard a trove of precious artifacts from a remote island, ruthlessly disregarding the island's inhabitants and their sacred belongings. Seeing the opportunity to strike a blow against the captain's greed, Miles devised a daring plan of his own. He secretly pilfered a handful of these artifacts, intending to sell them in distant ports to fund his escape from the clutches of the "Sea Serpent."

			With a small sack of stolen treasures in his possession, Miles deserted the ship under the cover of night, using a modest rowboat he had managed to acquire. His heart raced as he rowed away from the looming silhouette of the "Sea Serpent," knowing that he was leaving behind the life he had known – a life of servitude and deception.

			However, fate had a cruel twist in store for Miles. While navigating the treacherous waters in his makeshift boat, a sudden storm arose, mercilessly tossing his vessel like a leaf in the wind. The tempest's fury was unrelenting, and as the waves grew taller and more ferocious, Miles lost control. In a matter of moments, his small boat was capsized, and he found himself struggling in the churning waters.

			Miraculously, he managed to cling to a sack of gold he had brought with him, but his boat was gone, swallowed by the unforgiving sea. Alone and battered, Miles washed up on a remote and unfamiliar shore. The stolen artifacts were nowhere to be found, lost to the depths of the ocean. All that remained was the sac of gold he had risked so much to preserve.

			With no boat, no treasures, and no clear sense of direction, Miles Ender stood on that desolate shore with a singular choice before him – to forge a new path despite the odds stacked against him. The sac of gold, once a symbol of his audacious ambition, became a humble reminder of his resourcefulness and determination. And so, with the sun setting over the horizon, Miles began to walk inland, driven by the unwavering spirit that had led him to this point.
