Nakaya had stopped by on her way to sell to the Horse Lords, so I figured I would join her since I still had a duel arranged with the mercenary leader amongst them. I challenged him to single combat out in the open, and he started slandering Nakaya, claiming that she was a monster that had stolen the face and name of someone he killed. I had no idea how right he was, but at the time, I was not having it. Even if Nakaya had borrowed a face and name, he still killed innocent people, and for that, he was to be brought to justice. We were given shortswords to be used in a traditional Gorumite duel, but even so, he felt the need to cheat, using the sheathe of his sword and a dagger he snuck in as additional weapons to gain an upper hand. It proved ineffective though, and I put him to death for his crimes. I claimed his dagger as a trophy, no doubt it was stolen from another innocent. It was then that Nakaya took a bite out of his neck, and I was initially going to dismiss it as a cultural difference until she brought up the Outer Rifts, something I could not ignore as a Hellknight. I pressed her for information, and found out she carried the blood of a Rakshasa in her veins, and took the face and name of a dead human to make it easier to do business. I figured she had a good heart upon questioning her, and made the judgement that she was not a threat to anyone. I let her live, figuring that she would not hurt anyone. I hope I made the right choice, for I do not think I could bear my blade down upon a friend. I hope she lives a good and lawful life from here on out, and that the girl she borrowed the name and face of can rest easy knowing her killer is dead.
