Rowenne is an Associate of the Round table.

Biography

Born into a nomadic centaur tribe that roamed the grassy plains, Rowenne was only a child when her life was irrevocably changed. Her tribe came under siege by an unrelenting horde of undead, a terrifying remnant of the Collapse's lingering chaos. Sir Thedric Vaelthorne, a champion of great renown, arrived amidst the carnage, his radiant blade carving a path through the dark tide. Though he succeeded in breaking the undead assault, the battle claimed the life of his loyal squire. Surveying the aftermath, Thedric found Rowenne amidst the wreckage—a wide-eyed, frightened centaur child. Seeing an opportunity to replace his fallen squire, he took her under his wing, justifying his actions as payment for his "heroic deeds."

From the very beginning, Thedric's mentorship was grueling. He was a stern and demanding teacher, his expectations bordering on abusive. Rowenne was forced to endure harsh lessons, but she absorbed his teachings with unwavering determination. Over the years, she learned discipline, the art of combat, and the maintenance of armor and weaponry. Though Thedric was a beacon of hope to the downtrodden during their travels, his kindness was a facade. Once the work was done, he always exacted a price—whether in coin, labor, or other forms of recompense—and he could be especially cruel to those who failed to meet his standards.

Despite his flaws, Rowenne came to view Thedric as a father figure. He had saved her life, given her purpose, and shaped her into the resilient woman she had become. However, she could never fully reconcile his noble deeds with his ruthless methods.

Years passed, and Thedric began to falter. Age and the weight of countless battles dulled his edge. One fateful day, a group of bandits ambushed them on a remote road. Though Thedric fought valiantly, he was gravely injured. With no other options, Rowenne hoisted him onto her back and carried him for miles, determined to find help. Her journey led her to the city of Onadbyr, where she sought aid for the comatose knight. Leaving him in the care of the city ward, Rowenne faced a new challenge: finding a way to pay for his treatment.

Desperate for work, Rowenne turned to the Associates, offering her services as a fighter. Taking up Thedric's guisarme as her own weapon, she also claimed his old chestplate—modifying it to better fit her feminine figure and replacing the worn metal plates with more affordable animal hide where needed. These pieces of armor serve as both practical protection and a constant reminder of her complex relationship with her mentor. She remains in Onadbyr, driven by a mixture of loyalty, guilt, and the hope that Thedric might one day awaken. Until then, she continues to forge her path, navigating the fine line between justice and survival.
