The ashen wind drifts, and with it comes the sound of golden bells.
Inari, sometimes known as the Lady of Bells, is an Associate of the Round Table. Formerly a martial artist and warrior, she is now a shrine maiden in service of her goddess Daikitsu. After being accidentally afflicted following the fiery collapse of her Old Country settlement’s holy shrine, her curse manifests in ash-stained limbs and producing wheezing mouthfuls of soot.
She believes her curse is the paradoxical price she pays for her belief in her goddess. For a deity of abundance, it seems only fair that this follower of hers should usher in new growth with the benefits ash can bring. However, despite the renewal it may provide, fire is still fire. She is being purified by the flames within her by the passing day–even if it fuels her power.
Though still young, she tries to act with reverence and ritualistic stoicism. Keyword: tries. It can be a big burden to carry, especially for one who still misses the life she once had--missing only what she remembers of that life, of course. She came to Onadbyr in the hopes she may find a way to alleviate--or at least better understand--her curse.
Appearance
Inari’s vulpine ears and twin fox tails are the greatest signifiers of her Kitsune heritage in her humanoid form. She wears her ash-gray hair in a neat braid, keeping it tidy while she tends to her work at Daikitsu’s shrine. Her tanned skin bears faded burn marks, though they are easily covered up by the ever-present ash stains on her limbs. Fine traces of soot drift off of her body as a result of her curse, as well. Clad in a kimono and geta, she prefers ceremonial wear over outright armor. Her clothes are adorned in various bells, lightly jingling as she moves.
In her fox form, Inari’s fur is the same gray color as her hair, and her slit eyes are golden yellow. She often wears bells and ribbons beneath her ears, much the same as in her humanoid form.
Abilities
Taking advantage of the power her curse provides, Inari places herself in a mostly damage-focused role during combat, with the occasional Heal or Harm to help her fellows should it be needed. While her days of martial combat have long been over, she is capable of wielding both her Bell implement from her Thaumaturge dedication alongside her innate Foxfire to provide damage beyond pure spellcasting.
