Oh. My. Gosh. I’ve been on a few of these missions as an associate, but this one was… a lot more strange. It wasn’t the most deadly I’ve been on, but it was very secretive and a bit unnerving to be honest. But about that, umm so I’ve been told there are some things I cannot write down here and there are probably people that would be upset at me if I did, so how about I describe what happened as a… fun hypothetical. Yeah. So if any details stand out, don't think too hard about it because it's just a story. Nothing suspicious here, no siree. | Oh. My. Gosh. So hypothetically, on the expedition board, there was this job posting that had all of the letters scrambled! Even when they replaced the posting with an unscrambled one, it just scrambled itself back when no one was looking! Just figuring out what the gibberish was saying was a task within itself, and eventually I pieced together the answers and realized it was a set of secret instructions! “Welcome And Well Met, Please Find Me In The Woods. Bring No Light And Let Your Ears Guide The Way. Together We Walk Wooded Ways To Our Mother Of Mystery”, is what I’ve managed to gather. Personally, I thought this was a fun test by the Round Table! Going out to the woods at night seemed scary, but right there I decided to put my foot down and not be so afraid! If this was going to be a test, I wasn’t going to run away gosh darn it! But still, when I arrived at the edge of the woods on that dark chilly night, I second guessed my decision to come alone. | So hypothetically, on the expedition board, there was this job posting that had all of the letters scrambled! The lady in the middle of the clearing apologized for any discomfort from the trials we’ve experienced to get here, that they were merely illusions and they were a test to see if we were worthy to accept a gift. She offers us a gift of enlightenment from her lady, if we are skillful enough to wield it. | The lady in the middle of the clearing apologized for any discomfort from the trials we’ve experienced to get here, that they were merely illusions and they were a test to see if we were worthy to accept a gift. We split off into 3 teams: Cap'n Stardust and Arumi, Me and Kora, and Sabelle would back each other up to solve the patterns in each of the magic circles. As we took our positions and donned our masks, birds arrived from overhead. They were masked psychopomp birds that served the Good Witch of the South, and they were soon joined by this large bird man with a deadly scythe that swooped in from the night sky. Arumi near instantly solved her first magic circle and she and Cap'n Stardust headed on to the one south of them. Sabelle created a vampire coffin illusion to distract the birds around him as he solved the northern most magic circle. When some of them saw through the coffin, he turned his mask into a pair of glasses and said “You wouldn’t hit someone with glasses, would you?” It turns out, a decent amount of the psychopomps wouldn’t, so they instead flew over to me and Kora. Kora solved the first circle, but the birds were attacking Kora faster than we could deal with them. I felt worried for Kora, but I ran as fast as I could to the last circle and started trying to solve it. It was harder than I thought, and while I was working the large psychopomp with a scythe swung and knocked out Cap’n Stardust with a devastating blow. Arumi had solved her circle, so she gave Cap'n Stardust a potion and told him to run, planning to face this psychopomp alone, knowing she stood no chance. Kora continued to be assaulted by birds until she unleashed her psyche and blasted out a sonic screech that also knocked herself out! Finally, before more blood was split, I solved the last circle and the large psychopomp vanished. | We split off into 3 teams: Cap'n Stardust and Arumi, Me and Kora, and Sabelle would back each other up to solve the patterns in each of the magic circles. We cleaned up the rest of the birds, with the exception of one: Sabelle casted an Albatross Curse on the one harassing him, and that paired with Sanctuary left the poor psychopomp unable to hit him. So we were greeted with a scene of the bird psychopomp furiously pecking away while a small albatross on a cord dangled from its neck, desperate to harm the nonplussed Sabelle. Oh. My.
As I entered the woods alone, I found a busted shrine to Pharasma. As she is a goddess against undeath, I spent my time reconsecrating the shrine, then I pursued a ■■■■■■■■■■ ■■■■ to a pond that had a ■■■■■■■ that seemed to absorb the vitality of the other woodland critters! I felt sorry for Sabelle, who seemed to not be able to see in this dark!
The lady in the middle of the clearing apologized for any discomfort from the trials we’ve experienced to get here, that they were merely illusions and they were a test to see if we were worthy to accept a gift. She told us she has seen a terrible cataclysm that may befall our city Onadbyr. She offers us a gift of enlightenment from her lady, if we are skillful enough to wield it.
This is still all hypothetical by the way, okay? So we all took a group huddle and all shared what we learned in the forest and from the vague hints this lady was giving us. So we decided we’ll help and do the ritual, in case its knowledge will help Onanbyr in the crisis that seems to be looming on the horizon.
The woman was pleased at our answer, and rang her bell which silenced the surrounding woods, leaving us inside a pocket where sound wouldn’t travel in or out. She told us that long ago, the
