Foreword From The Untold History of the Shining Rose of the Jongleur Three, as written by Olla Ru

The Legend of the Jongleur Three, the three heroes of Onadbyr that would leave an indelible mark on history, is well known. Likewise, the ever expanding membership of the Jongleur Three is similarly well known. By the time the rift had appeared in the sky, there were no less than fourteen members of the band of adventurers. With this chronicle, we do not wish to impugn the breadth of detail in the history as penned by Sava Ru (no relation). We do however wish to fill in a curious gap we have discovered when conducting further research on the Jongleur Three.

A traveling poet by the name of Donatello Oommen had spent several years living in the City of Onadbyr. While this poet never reached the fame of other poets, such as the Dazzling Loke, or infamy of Lali Bunb, he did write one specific piece that is of great import to our tale. It was in the work titled Hope and Despair in Onadbyr that we find the clue that began our look into the curious figure you will soon be learning the tale of.

Donatello Oommen wrote, “Under the red sky hope would be lost to me, were it not for you: Shining Rose of the Jongleur Three!” It is clear that in this piece, Donatello refers to the rift torn in the sky above Onadbyr, but what grabbed our curiosity was the final line– the Shining rose of the Jongleur Three.

Who could Donatello Oommen be referring to? We knew that it was not any of the original members of the Jongleur Three. Uravus was only known as Cap’n Stardust, Arumi was much too humble for such a moniker, and Ariyu let her bow do the talking for her. Was it, perhaps, Tobin, the bandit Uravus recruited into the Jongleur Three to foster his redemption? We had considered this, but ultimately ruled it out, for the man known only as Tobin was quite famous for his hatred of all things floral.

We had considered the various animal members of the Jongleur Three, but were quick to rule each out, for many of them had their own nicknames, but none had a name even partially resembling “Shining Rose”. We had spoken to many of the leading scholars and experts on the subject matter of the Jongleur Three, and were left stumped. None could explain this odd title in this little read poem.

It was only after we spoke with the foremost expert himself, Sava Ru, that we were able to come to the truth of the matter. There is a man that had made his appearance in Onadbyr shortly after the rift in the sky had opened. This man was known as Urallo, and he purported to be the long lost brother of the Jongleur Three. With the help of his fey companion, The Unforgettable Vertigo, Urallo had made quite a name for himself in the city of Onadbyr. Sava Ru had spent many days and weeks investigating the bold claims of Urallo, and was unable to confirm, or deny the claims. Finding the project to be less rewarding than his already lengthy chronicles of the Jongleur Three proper, Sava Ru had shelved his notes and findings.

It did not take much encouragement from our part to get access to these notes, Sava Ru’s only request was that we personally rewrite his findings. It is our belief that Urallo’s claims are in fact the truth, and that he is a proper member of the Jongleur Three. As such, throughout this tale we shall only refer to Urallo as what we believe him to be: the brother of Uravus, Arumi, and Ariyu. As much of Urallo’s notoriety happened after his arrival in Onadbyr, we shall save you a lengthy tale of his origin in the chronicle proper, and instead, shall endeavor to sum up his tale here in the foreword.

Urallo was born and raised in the small village of Swan’s Rest. Though he did not know his father, we have reason to believe that eventually he was given reason to believe that he shared parentage with the Jongleur Three. Urallo took after his mother as a physician, and being an honorable man, worked in the Village Militia as a field medic. Urallo’s good nature and kind heart helped ease a growing dispute between Swan’s Rest and an encampment of Fey living nearby. It was this endeavor that had earned him the friendship and loyalty of the Fey Magician, The Unforgettable Vertigo. It was after this that Urallo learned the truth of his parentage, and sought passage to Onadbyr to meet his lost family. Vertigo, always willing to help her new friend, and eager to learn more of the strange world she found herself in, happily came with.

And with this very long backstory truncated into a single paragraph, we now proceed to the true heart of our tale, the Untold Story of the Uncounted Member of the Jongleur Three, their very own Shining Rose: Urallo!
