Associates are sent to investigate a village that fallen under some kind of sleeping curse.
Log
Briselle is first to arrive and waits for the rest. Illium is the second to arrive, and converses with Victor about the details of the job and then goes to sleep to take part in a dream council. Fragile Garnier, Inari, Isgram Frostcrown and Theodore all arrive afterwards and make their greetings. Illium then wakes up and rejoins the group.
Illium then proceeds to draw purple mustaches on the whole group or restyles those that already have mustaches consisting of smelling salts. This is a precaution as the group takes part in the mission to solve the problem of a village falling asleep. The origin of the affliction is unknown as is the way it spreads as it appears to affect others that come into contact with the victims. The main goal is to try and save the villagers and remove any obvious threats. The smelling salts the party just received should be able to work on the villagers to cure the curse. The journey to the village is expected to last 5 days each way.
The journey to the village is uneventful, with the party engaging in casual conversation along the way. The village is surrounded by a log fence and unusually quiet, with no sounds, even from animals. Theodore offers elixirs to anyone who wants them. The group searches the first building they come across, they living and dining rooms are empty but after checking further inside they find the family in the bedroom and they appear to be dead. Isgram and Fragile examine the bodies just to confirm their condition and find the family has been dead for a while, apparently peacefully in their sleep at about the same time. They show signs of dehydration which Theodore diagnosed as the likely the cause of death at least physically, whether anything happened to them spiritually or mentally as a result of the dreams is unknown.
The group marks a 3 on the door of the house to indicate how many dead bodies are inside for when the come back to burry them, and then decide to check the barn across the street to see if the animals are also affected. But before they can check a scream comes from behind them and they are attacked by three thin creature and two swarm of insects. Isgram immediately cuts down the thin creature that approaches the group with two quick attacks. The swarms fly in to attack but the party takes down the rest of the creatures without much trouble other than Isgram taking several hits.
After defeating the creatures, the party spent a short time recovering and identified the greatures that attacked them. They were Meokdan and they try and devour reincarnated souls. The next house the group searched had 2 bodies, which showed signs of being eaten, probably by the fiends we defeated. All the other buildings had dead bodies, some gnawed on and others untouched. There were also no signs of animals in the barn, alive or dead. All the bodies were in bed, with the exception of one empty bed, probably belonging to the man who went to the city for help.
As the group was finishing up their search a giant flying worm type creature appeared out of midair behind them and attacked them, putting Briselle to sleep. The party engaged and woke Briselle up and managed to bring down the creature even though it used some strange magic and phased in and out of our plane of existence. The party identified it as a Dreamscraper, which captures the dreams of creatures and typically serves stronger creatures such as liches or night hags. This creature is closely related to dreams but we don't know if it was solely responsible for the death of the village or the contagious sleep curse.
The party did discover some rotting grain in the windmill that seemed to have gone bad faster than normal, so Theodore took a sample to bring back to the city for examination. The party cremated the bodies of the villagers and returned home.
