Captain Cutter Black, one of the Associates of the Round Table, is a tall, wide elf who wears black armor and carries a fearsome sword. He is one of the half dozen captains of the night guard, who watch the walls of the city to keep us safe at night. He's only been a captain for a couple of months, but has taken to the job, and is well liked throughout Onadbyr. He is married to Morticia Black, a dwarf baker much his senior, and he wears a necklace of signet rings around his neck, taken from the hands of the undead he slew back during an outbreak five years ago. In a past life, Cutter was a graverobber, and was imprisoned by the council for his crimes after he and his partner, Lozin Gearheart were caught red handed. After a couple of months in the lock-up, Onadbyr was attacked by zombies and other undead, and the council needed every hand they could find. The jailer gave Cutter and Lozin a choice, either join the fight, and win their freedom, or rot in jail. Lozin said no. Cutter, who always figured he was smarter than Lozin, did the opposite, and was released on probation. He was outfitted with a weapon and armor, black leather, and a long elven curve blade. Cutter figured it would be a great time to cut and run, but on his way to the exit through the wall he knew, he was set upon by the undead. He fought them off, and in the process, saved Morticia, who thanked him profusely. A strange wave of happiness came over Cutter then, and unsure what to do with it, and now suddenly unwilling to leave the townsfolk to their fates, Cutter ended up cutting through a dozen shamblers that were attacking the small block, saving about thirty residents. When the sun rose, the undead were routed, and Cutter went back to the lockup. There he and the jailer found Lozin eaten in his cell, unable to escape the hoard. In a move that surprised both himself and the council, Cutter gave up his sword, his armor, and returned to his cell to finish serving his sentence. The next week word got out that he was back in jail, and the residents he saved formed together to petition the council to release him. Surprised, and impressed, by the elf's actions during the siege, the council released him early, give him a badge, and slapped him on the wall. He's been a law-abiding citizen ever since, and a great boon to the guarding of Onadbyr's Walls.
