The new Rune Lords bring peace to the Thassilonians.

Log

After finally emblazoning the seven runes upon our flesh it was time to finish what we had started. A final time we journeyed to the Mausoleum with Ivar, emboldened by certainty in what we must do. Ivar thanked us for coming this far and wished us well. This time we knew where we were going. The massive mountain that was once seat of the emperor and the last refuge of the Thassilonian people. We came to the bridge leading in, still carved with the names of the fallen. The Rune Lords possessed the desiccated to greet us once more. They instilled in us the importance of the runes we carried and the price of leadership. They bid us complete once last trial to prove we had the strength to fulfill this duty.

Battle ensued and this time we faced the combined force of all seven Rune Lords. All were pushed to their limit, falling only to rejoin the fight time and time again. Pushed forward by feats of incredible heroism we prevailed and the trial was passed. Satisfied, the Rune Lords left to their rest. Before going Lord Krune admitted to us he had moved his mausoleum in hopes that someone like us would find it. With that we finally stepped through the gates.

Inside the mountain was carved into homes housing thousands. We were pulled by some force to the center of the mountain where the emperor awaited us. Just by looking at him his regal providence was evident. Next to his throne were seven seats, having long awaited his Rune Lords. Finally the purpose of this place would be fulfilled. In one last grand display of brilliant magic he was ready to teleport away the hold. We elected to let them go to their original destination, knowing not where it would be, and so the last of Thassilon was lost to us. Ivar decided to stay behind to bring peace to any who remained and help us with our runes, which had now reached their full potential.

Having learned the full story of the Thassilonians I have thought much about our world. As we pick up the scraps and hold diligently to the remnants of the world, is it not arrogance to cling to life against the forces of apocalypse? Civilizations rise and fall, and to forgo this cycle circumvents the natural order. What great pride keeps us going? I feel I am beginning to understand much more than I ever would've expected when I first came here. Interesting.
