There have been ghost sightings in the Upper Sacks, and we get hired to take care of it. When we go to get the job, we see a crowd of people swarming the council hall, yelling at Beckett, one of the poor clerks. Nelista sneaks into the crowd to learn more, and finds out that the ghost is violent. While this is going on, Omen tries to scare off the crowd with a spell. We see the ghost show up and point out the Round Table and the Associates. Beckett isn't sure why the Associates and the Round Table have been cursed, but we do have a suspected area written down, a neighborhood near the Ripper. A young woman also came by looking for someone named Eloise, who went missing while looking to join the associates. None of us recognize that name. Nelista does a quick harrowing, and sees that a young woman was murdered after being deceived. Beckett didn't get the name of the woman who showed up, but he did get a physical description: A half-elven woman with black hair and red highlights. We start by talking to the townsfolk to get more information, and find out that the half-elf's name was Lysandria, and where her home is located. There's also a rumor of foreign diplomats taking up residence in one of the nicer houses around here. A nearby alleyway has had a lot of ghost sightings, so we decide to check that out first. The debris in the alley looks pretty odd, like it's been blown around in a circle. Omen finds the center of the circle of debris, and he demands that Eloise shows up. Nothing happens when he does that. I see a piece of debris that looks odd, and has a leather satchel with the initials EJC written on them, as well as a bloodstain, a scrap of emerald-green fabric, and a shattered crossbow bolt. I think this is where Eloise died. I hear the moaning of a ghost around the corner, I think that might be them. I think I managed to at least talk them out of hurting us, but that definitely wasn't enough to help them move on. We then go on to meet Lysandria, who didn't know about the murder. The last time she saw Eloise was when she went to look for the recruiter, and then she didn't come back. We ask if she had any letters to Eloise, and she did have a letter from someone named Revinus. That sounds foreign, we suspect the foreign diplomats might be involved. We head over to the diplomat's townhouse, but on the way, Omen wants to speak with Beckett again. He asks Beckett about the diplomats, and we find out that they're from the Old Country, and are looking to improve travel between here and there. We find out that Revinus is in fact the name of one of the diplomats. We think we may have our main suspect, and he's been impersonating a Round Table official, too. Omen and I agree that the townhouse is way too big. Who even needs this much space to live, anyways? Sure, the Haunted House is big, but that's more of an entertainment venue. Nelista signs a contract with Barbell. That seems dangerous, even if it is with an imp. We knock on the front door, and get no response. Omen decides to break in, instead. I just hope that having a hellknight nearby will keep us from getting in trouble. We enter the foyer, and some statues start moving. Maven dispatches them with ease, having barely said a word so far. Omen opens a door, and some sort of supernatural presence starts acting up. Some sort of fog appears, and something touches Omen from within. It doesn't take us too long to dispel the haunt, and the fog seems to be going deeper into the back of the house. We look around in the back, and encounter one of Revinus' guards. We know from rumors we heard earlier that there's two of them. Kanabos, from what I've read before. Looks like they're fledglings looking to prove themselves. Maven catches sight of who I assume to be Revinus and charges after him. They were looking pretty rough before that, so I hope they don't put themselves in too much danger. I hear a thump, and Revinus enters the kitchen, and Maven doesn't follow. That sounds pretty bad, but he's cornered LG. Fortunately, there's enough room for LG to run past him, and I'm able to reach Maven to get them back up again. Nelista's able to finish him off, too. Maven takes him out, and we find the corpse of Eloise. We tell her that Revinus is dead, and she passes on. A job well done, but I sure hope that we don't get persecuted for killing a diplomat and breaking into the house he was staying in.
