Log
Our lovely little group was hired to investigate the presence of some Kulu-Ya-Ku (a strange, birdlike creature that is apparently fond of stealing the eggs of others) that had recently arrived in the area of a nearby settlement. The residents were worried that the creature's tendencies would cause trouble to the area if it stole the wrong eggs and so we were hired to take care of the problem.
We had several peaceful days while we traveled. I was happy to see Bryn once again. It's been quite a while since I've been on a mission with her. I had even heard some rather distressing rumors that she had been forced to retire from being an associate due to severe injuries. I'm delighted to see that is not the case. Melfyra showed a rather distressing habit of leaving the camp each night and returning covered in blood. Hardly proper behavior for such a lovely young woman. She really is quite striking when cleaned up. She has such lovely horns. Finally, we had Mantella one of the Bright-Eyed siblings. It's always so lively when any of them come on a mission.
Once we arrived in the village, we began asking around for more information. Melfyra went off to speak with the local wildlife while the rest of us spoke with the villagers. A gentleman named Farmer Perkins turned out to be our lead- complaining about a "giant turkey" that had broken into his chicken coop and stolen his eggs the night before. With that, we had our lead. We followed the tracks, first to an empty cave, then to a cliff's edge with a large nest near the edge. The Kulu-Ya-Ku was busily digging through the nest when we arrived. It began to flee as soon as it saw us.
Our group leapt into action, hoping to stop the Kulu-Ya-Ku before it could cause any more trouble. We gave chase to the creature as several roars echoed in our direction from the distance. Eventually the parents of the eggs arrived (apparently called a Rathalos and Rathian). The Rathian gave chase to the fleeing Kulu-Ya-Ku while the Rathalos' attention was set on our group. Fortunately, we were not forced to fight with the creature for too long before it too left to give chase to the Kulu-Ya-Ku. We quickly rejoined the chase. After navigating quite a few obstacles (several of which were created by the chase happening ahead of us), we ended up back at the Kulu-Ya-Ku's cave. The Rathian was blocking the entrance, clearly trying to get in to reclaim her egg.
We were able to sneak into the cave through a side passage. Inside, we found two Kulu-Ya-Ku. We cornered the troublesome creatures in their den and were able to finally defeat them. We searched their den and came across quite a few eggs including the originally stolen egg. We were able to return the egg to its mother before returning to the village to report our success.
