We go to kill Hoggins the were-whale.
Log
We prepared for this. I bought a potion off Grist, and he cast water breathing on all of us. Then, after Grist fell asleep on the approach, Fen showed up and cast a spell to let us walk on water. Aleth tried to go through the water to get to a rock, and was predictably attacked by a were-alligator. I'll be honest, it felt good to fight again. None of the creatures could stand up to more than a few hits. There were also were-orcas and were-sharks. Damian got hit pretty nasty by one of them, but honestly that was his fault for pushing forward alone. I wouldn't do anything like that.
We made short work of the small fries as the whale, "Hoggins" or whatever, approached from across the lake. Maybe he thought it would be dramatic. Or maybe he would rather his minions do the actual work of killing us. Either way, he let them all die. Turns out, he wasn't much more impressive than the smaller ones. Fen stole his curse, of which he apparently had two, so they went for the one we didn't know about, and gained control over the curses of all the were-creatures around us. Freaky cults, man.
These things are crazy, honestly. I don't even know why I gave the thing a chance to surrender, but instead of giving up he just moaned something about the Father. Yuck. Damian finished him off. We tried to talk to one of the were-orcas, tell them the truth about their "Father", but they were dead-set on being slaves to this asshole. Miles put him out of his misery.
Damian's injury from earlier came back to "bite" him as he turned into one of the were-sharks. I scared him away so he wouldn't hurt anyone, and he just kept running. Eventually Miles and I caught up to him, and no matter how many times we knocked him down he kept trying to run, so eventually Miles had to knock him out. While he was asleep, Illiam used their magic to get rid of the curse.
All in all, a success. We let one of the guys who "had a family" go, and Fen made him promise not to go near the camp for a month. No big deal. Even if he does, we'll probably just kill him.
Shoulda saved my 60 gold.
