The team arrives at the center of town. All party members arrive within the approved time excluding Sahona Bright-eyed who was late. The party met with Jean, the assistant of Alice Hedgewyn. The owner of Hedgewyn Brewery, an apothecary that has been providing care for farmers and hunters in the area outside of Onadbyr for the past few years.
Jean presents as a coward, speaking praises of the Alice woman but otherwise afraid of most other things. He states the two are in an agreement where he works without pay willingly but stays at the residence as her servant.
The party rode the cart to the Brewery, a relatively small hut that Jean reports Alice found in the woods abandoned and took it over for her business. Here the party met Alice who is a young human-presenting female. She lives with her sister Caroline who is 9 years of age. The girl known as Caroline fell asleep last week and has not awoken since. The fourth member of the house is an orange Cat.
Alice has made attempts to remove curse to no avail. The property was heavily searched and the following information was found:
-Sahona spoke with the cat who reported that the girl is noisy and he does not like her
-Sutton investigates lab and Alice reports she is searching for glimmer root, a plant that will aid in contacting the girl in her dreams
-Orion locates four patches of disturbed dirt that appear as graves in the back of the house but no markers are present
-Orion and myself investigate the cellar to find the four markers, they include four names (1 boy, 3 girls) and it appears that Caroline has drawn symbols on them (Diamonds on the boys marker, Hearts, Clubs and Spades on the girls)
-Animals in the area report dangerous plants to the east
The party with this information decided to investigate the east to find glimmer root. Deep in the forest, the party searched but during this process were attacked by glowing plants. This fight was successful, the following are performances:
Sheeri - Adequate performance using ice to slow the plants
Sutton - Exceeds expectations, dealing significant damage to the plants
Orion - Suffers greatly from many attacks, almost dying in the process
Sahona - Needs improvement, fails magical attacks and is unable to assist Orion
Gwen - Needs improvement, failed to successfully attack multiple plants
Berta - Meets expectations, puts effort into the fight and successfully does damage
The party returns the roots to Alice who prepares the solution and offers healing for the party.
The party drinks the solution alongside Jean as we enter the dream in search of Caroline. In the dream we awake prone, a looming humanoid-presenting young woman in a red cloak covered in thorns dripping with blood. She is armed with a greatsword and warns that we should not have come here as she immediately strikes and kills Jean. The woman's presence summons more plants, and seems to be acting as a guardian for the current realm. The party enters into another fight with her. During this encounter she continues to announce that our presence here is intrusive and she is protecting something.
The fight is successful, Sutton claims the final blow but chooses to strike non-lethal. However as the last of the plants are killed, the thorn woman fades and the dream ends. Once awake, Jean is dead and Caroline has yet to wake. Alice appears distraught. The party will be required to return in order to likely deal with the other three graves.
The party is rewarded with a Rooting rune, Thorn triad, scroll of murderous vine, scroll of wall of thorns, mistform elixir 2x, healing potion (moderate) 6x, numbing tonic (moderate) 6x. The party has agreed to return and continue to aid Alice in waking her sister.
