I was worried when we were approaching the Hedgewyn Brewery that Alice would again be in a terribly despondent state. I found some lovely flowers, hoping both to brighten her own day and have something waiting for young Caroline if we were finally successful in waking her from her months-long slumber. I was instead surprised that Alice greeted us immediately and practically shoved her newest concoction into our hands- a potion meant to transport us to the dungeon .

We drank and found ourselves in a strange space with a mysterious mage who stated that she was the one who had brought us to the space. She pulled a dagger and told us that when she died, we would wake. The dream was nearly completed, Caroline's captor nearly finished with her. Waking Caroline would doom everyone else occupying the dream. "Everything needs to feed and a nightmare is no different." The mage attempted to end her own life and we acted to try and stop her. Ultimately, we were able to disarm her and force her surrender.

We pleaded with her for her help. The poor woman was obsessed with clinging to the remaining existence that she had. It was unfortunate, but our arguments fell on dear, uncaring ears. I was able to gain the woman's name- Sasha- before we moved on.

It turns out our own fears were the key to advancing deeper into the dream. Knowing my own thoughts, I didn't dare ask what the others thought of. Either way, our fears were sufficient and the rune activated and took us deeper.

Beyond, we found Caroline and her apparent captor, who told us that we would need to kill Caroline in order to escape. THE ILL-DRESSED ABOMINATION THEN HAD THE AUDACITY TO THREATEN MY DIA IF WE DIDN'T COMPLY. Sheeri woke the girl and she came to in an absolute panic. Comforting her was no use. The magic of the nightmare was too much.

The nightmare creature was not pleased by our refusal to kill Caroline and became aggressive. Several twisted clones of Caroline were summoned and began to attack. The creature was giddy that we would be forced to kill even just visions Caroline. Fighting the creature and the conjured children was a nightmare in and of itself. After a long and difficult battle, it was struck down, but left behind a final sinister order for its remaining monstrosities: "Kill her." I would say that I couldn't believe the audacity, but this was far from the worst that we had seen from the creature. We rushed to poor Caroline's aid and dear Liminal more than proved his valor by interposing himself between Caroline and the creatures attacks until we could stop their attack.

Once Caroline was safe from the attacks, we were able to get her calmed down and focused on returning home. The runes were able to be activated and we, along with Caroline, woke up safely.

After all of this, I'm ready to be home with Dia. The work of an associate is dangerous, but work like this makes it worthwhile.
