Berta, Tuli, Orion, Sheeri, and Kasumi are hired to go to Shaftesbury to inspect the sourse of strange letters recieved by people in town. The letters promise to unite people with past and missing loved ones. Orion gets a letter too. We travel to Shaftesbury and are greeted by a plain looking lady with a plain looking dress. She starts bleeding and we see a robotic attachment dug into her back. She asks us to talk to the leader and leaves.
We scout around first and see a group of town folk trying to burn a lady tied to a pyre. We “intervene” with our weapons.
Sheeri gets slashed severely and I have a real hard time hitting a commoner as they stab me a bunch of times with small cuts.
The biggest one who almost killed Sheeri stabs Tuli next and I get a little rage filled and [REDACTED] so I charge over and slash him down with me axe. Kasumi is not happy that I didn’t try to knock him out instead. Kasumi stabilizes him before he bleeds out.
We untie the lady named Belle. She gives us a key. We then ditch the unconscious people in a house that I know was locked but Sheeri busted it open and tried telling me it was never locked.
Belle takes all but Tuli and me into her house.
Meanwhile Tuli and I find a man with a trap on his head and a string down his throat. I carefully remove the string from his throat and it has a key tied to the end.
The others run over scared what we were getting into without them but we did great!
We wander around and see a man whittling with a knife. He asks us to join him for a meal and he will give us the last key. Kasumi and Sheeri go in and the man starts cutting a girl with his knife. They immediately attack the man and knock him out. The lady says he is her husband. We take his key and gather at the door to the main temple.
Sheeri opens the door because the rest of us are too scared.
Inside is a man who says welcome on behalf of the midnight lord. Orian knows that is another name for Zon-Kuthon.
He attacks us and Tuli accidentally shoots one of the “evil” possibly possessed villages to death. [REDACTED]
Tuli then shoots the cult leader in the head, killing him.
The villagers continue to attack and I throw my shield a little harder then I meant and kill a villager myself. The last one surrenders after the others are killed. Kasumi tells her that if another priest of the midnight lord shows up they better come tell us or we can't promise she will be safe next time. She agrees.
We get a Scroll of Agonizing Despair, a Lesser Dread Rune, giant wasp venom and 350 gold.
