So this bug bear guy, despite the name, is neither bug nor bear! That’s almost the craziest thing I heard today, only coming second to the job they are asking us to complete. Apparently you have to hunt and kill someone to get a name now. Until he got a name, we had to just call him “That Guy”. We suggested some names, but he refused them all because he has to kill someone to take it. Melfyra put down some ground rules, they can’t kill any animals! They’re only allowed to kill things to eat them.. That Guy Over There suggested killing a dragon. As the smarted Bright-Eyed , it tried to convince them otherwise but no one listened to me.
We set off randomly toward the north because That Guy walked that way. We meandered off toward that direction until my perfect eyes spotted an underground trail of a creature. I led the group onward once I caught the trail. We ended up at a decrypted village and we split off to find further tracks. I spotted the trail once more, leading further north into the village. It lead to a pile of dead animals that looked especially mangelled. This could have been the return of the menagerie mangler, but unlikely. I warned That Guy that this is a trap, but he didn’t listen to me.
Surprise Suprise, That Guy Over There was ambushed by two little drake like things. Luckily, I spotted this coming. I was very ready and remembered to cast all my spells I wanted to today. I charged forward with Lifegiver to save That Guy. I tested this creature's resistances by throwing electricity at it, but it was not very effective. Melfyra came over with her wolf to flank the scaled foe. Their attacks were far more effective than my electricity! Rynexyra tried to help out but missed their shadow attack. That Guy could have killed these things on his own, he’s super strong and almost did just that. Kiera helped finish the weakened dragon thing off while Boophis was ambushed by two others!!!! Boophis ran away and helped with his ugly nerdy magic. Brave dwarf Odin charged forward to the tiny puny drakes that ambushed Boophis and was able to do some damage towards it.
Melfyra was looking a little hurt. Since I’m the smartest frog, I helped by healing Melfrya a bit. Melfyra in return tried to help Odin, now surrounded by three drakes, learning that they are strong against cold damage too! Rynexyra tried to do the shadow thing again but these little guys really didn’t seem phased. Meanwhile, That Guy is just murdering the scaly things once again. Why did we even come over to this mission? Odin may have been brave, but even bravery can’t save him from the drakes mud ball attacks. Kiera was emotionally affected by all of this. The tears in their eyes caused them to miss every attack against the one that knocked Odin out. Boophis expertly analyzed the situation, he knew he could only save one person between Odin and That Quest Giver Person. He prioritized gold over the lives of his own associates, using the free moment he had to heal up That Guy. Karma came back to bite him when another drake ambushed Boophis. Seems like the only thing that useless new body is good for now is attracting the attention of every enemy near him.
As the less selfish member of the Bright-Eyed tribe, I healed up Odin to get him back into the fight. Melfrya also knows how to prioritize healing, she healed up the weakened Kiera so they wouldn’t fall in battle too. Rynexrya proved they aren’t entirely useless. She hit three of the drakes with a spell and one of them actually was affected by it. The One Guy We’re Getting a Name For was a little too busy to help at the moment because he was someone restrained by a little guy. No one else really did anything for a few seconds except my nerd of a brother that continued to heal up That Hurt Guy. I took the opportunity to actually help out. Lifegiver went all out and almost killed one of the drakes , and I was so close to finishing it off my mini ball of fire I summoned. Melfyra, the most valuable healer, continued to heal Keira while the shadow mage, Rynexyra continued to show that they still need to practice a bit before they go on their next mission. The Guy With No Name stole my kill and almost sent another drake to their death while Odin finally showed that if he puts some effort into his attacks, he too is able to almost kill these things! Kiera seemed very honorable. Instead of killing the one Odin attacked, they put a different Drake next to them at death’s door. Boophis must have been too busy reading books earlier, he attacked something with lightning damage and it barely did any damage at all to the drake. I ran in and saved Keira, the orc that only knows how to get hit really hard. That was the moment Rynexrya hit the second time that fight, finishing off the last Drake, not counting the one that got away.
Rynexrya seems better at identifying things than fighting things. She identified these creatures as Prairie Drakes. That guy added the names “Drake” and “Prairie” to the list of potential names to choose from. We were all hurt and out of resources, so we all decided to rest for the night. During the night, Melfrya looked really hurt. I tried to heal them with my magic, but I must have failed casting the spell because I only just hurt them more. Once we all woke up,we set off once again to find more things to kill for the Nameless One.
We came across footprints leading to some guy with a really lame name. That Guy would sound super lame with a name like his. His name is so bad that even I will refuse to write it down. Luckily, Mr. Lame was hunting these things called Bilokos. He led us to the cave where all these Bilokos are hiding. We took our positions and began our assault on these dangerous, ugly reptile creatures. These things weren’t as dangerous as the drakes. We took some attacks from them and weren’t instantly regretting our decisions. I only began regretting once I was feeling really hurt after Lifegiver was attacked like 6 times. While I was distracting a few of these Bilokos, everyone else, including Mr. Lame, was taking them out one by one. As soon as we thought they were almost all taken care of, we heard more Bilokos coming to join the massacre we were inflicting upon them. This fight overall was super uneventful. It really made up for the last combat with how easy we all handled these creatures.
Now that the hunting was done, it was finally time for That Guy to choose his name. He deliberated and decided on a name we suggested, Drake Biloko. Before he left we asked him how old he was. He wasn’t sure, perhaps we have to hunt down something in the future to steal their age…
