Log

Heading toward the sunken library, Satori casts a powerful water breathing spell on us just in case we end up deep in water somewhere. He also used Breadcrumbs, but that wasn't relevant to my knowledge. There was also a second path into the building on the opposite side, but we decided to stick to the one we knew the layout of. Heading in afterwards, we followed the same path the group that came here last did. The dart trap was now shooting darts that were both sharp and poisonous, but thankfully Shadefrost avoided it. Satori noticed the nearby double doors would stab your hands if you tried to open them, and up ahead Shadefrost saw rocks above the doorway. She disabled it most of the way, but as I opened the door a few more did manage to fall on me. That's why I wear a helmet, rather than boasting around with no helmet like some prideful peacock. Really makes the difference.

Inside the room we avoided a pitfall trap and a magic trap that was noted in the last expedition log. Kali found that it was already triggered by something and released it, resulting in a dead man appearing. Suffocated, but preserved by a complete lack of oxygen. No time to bury him for the time being, I checked his person for anything that could identify him at the very least. Found a journal and handed it off to Kali. Seems his name was "Paul Trapson" and he made note of every trap on this floor. Except the one that claimed his life, I suppose.

With Kali possessing a map of the trap layout, we were able to bypass the remaining traps here with ease. For future ventures into this area (not recommended without heavy preparation) see Kali for the trap map. It will be essential to your survival. We eventually arrived at a library area, wherein Satori and Kali both dug up some useful information. Rituals, and information pertaining to a powerful ritual guarded by the guardian of the place below, a creature named "Sulvaturil". Down the spiral staircase we found a green teleportation circle, and Satori and I braved it first.

We went through multiple rooms, each teleportation sending us into a different cube consisting of 6 different rooms with their own personal gravity based on where you entered from. We eventually found Wilhelm Gottfried, the missing person we were searching for, and used a banishment spell to get him out. We still had to find our way out, but now we didn't have an escort to protect. There was also a Callistria statue here, which I presume plays into the god puzzle going on with this area.

Along the way we heard the voice of the "Master" of this domain, and after meeting Wilhelm, became roped into being a servant to this master. We prepared the cheapest meal we could for him as an excuse for him to show us the way to him, and we went through a teleporter to find an ancient green dragon waiting for us. While the others prepared I went to deliver the meal, tossing the entire platter down his throat before drawing my weapon to initiate combat. Shadefrost had wandered off at some point, so we were a person down for this instance.

Combat started off poorly, with me taking attacks from the dragon, some plant golem and a sentient plant creature all at the same time from different parts of the cube. I was severely injured immediately with us failing to do much to the dragon, so Satori took it upon himself to activate the portal underneath the dragon and take him away from the fight for a moment. This gave us time to heal me and deal with the other monsters before Satori brought it back, having already done quite some work to it by himself. Apparently its pride forced it to keep standing up and getting knocked back down by Satori, so that sounds like it was a rather embarrassing show by the beast. It hardly mattered as Satori and I finished it off the second it tried to leave its position, while Illiam and Kali did an excellent job in dealing with the other two creatures.

In its horde we found a few items, including a ritual for a dragon becoming a "Ravener", which is their variant of a lich from the looks of it. We also found a scroll that could get us out of this maze, but first I explored until I found Shadefrost, unconscious near one of the aggressive runes on the floor. Didn't attack downed foes from the looks of it, but it did try to shock me several times while I grabbed her and left.

This place needs to be explored further to figure out what the mystery of the maze is, but as long as nobody gets themselves trapped in there again it shouldn't be any sort of urgent.
