Well, this one was quite a mess. We were called in about a strange cart covered in webs that was left in the middle of Pettyport. Of course it had to be Pettyport. Apparently one of the residents of Pettyport knew some magic, enough to cast Detect Magic at least. They said that the cart was letting off a lot of magical energy.
Illiam was able to figure out that the vast majority of the magic coming from the cart was Transmutation magic. Illiam then had the brilliant idea of casting Despell Magic on the cart. I swear, as much as I adore them, they can be impulsive at times.
Once the spell was cast everything went to hell. Apparently, the cart was under the effects of a large-scale Shrink spell, and once the spell was gone the contents of the cart began to return to their original size. Which included the biblical plague of spiders that was inside of the cart.
Among this horde were some giant spiders and what Illiam was able to identify as Ether Spiders. We managed to kill a couple of them, but some got away. Afterwards a halfling man that the spider had captured thanked us and explained everything. Apparently, he was in charge of a clothing company and used the spiders for their silk. One day a druid came by and made the spiders as intelligent as a human. Then the spiders revolted because they wanted better treatment. We had just busted a spider union.
Although the bigger spiders have not been seen since, the thousands of smaller spiders are running rampant in Pettyport. Efforts are being made to remove them all, but something tells me that's gonna take a bit.
