Raiya is many things, including an Associate of The Round Table, but first and foremost, she is a hunter. She seeks not only to track her prey, but to understand it—whether they be beasts, fiends, or, more recently, people.

Of course, what she knows best are dragons, having descended from one herself. But she was not raised among them, nor by those who revered them. Instead, she grew up on the outskirts of safer lands in a sandy plain, where the boundary between civilization and wilderness was thin, and survival depended on knowing what lay beyond it. Even attempting to hunt a dragon is no small feat, and doing so alone would surely spell disaster. As such, she turned her focus toward protecting the surrounding wilderness and maintaining its fragile balance in the long-standing wake of the Collapse.

As Raiya learned and grew, she came to know the wilds better than her home settlement. In time, she set off on her own, wandering for years in search of greater challenges—larger, more dangerous targets that might teach her more through survival than any mentor could. After hearing tell of a city thriving in the midst of the apocalypse, Raiya traveled to Onadbyr alongside her dromaeosaur companion, Egg, seeking some measure of stability. She joined the Associates primarily for coin, but also as a means of putting both her and Egg’s skills to use.

Appearance & Personality

Among her characteristics, the presence of horns, scales across her cheeks and arms, and a tail are prominent signs of Raiya’s dragonblood heritage as an—albeit distant—descendant of a Stormcrown dragon, whom she speculates to be a Rey Dau. Dark skin, deep red hair kept in two tidy braids, and brown eyes still mark her as human, though she has never been one to reject her draconic nature. Rather, her connection to these highest of apex predators has always been something to study and learn from.

Her weapons and armor have long been worn down by her nomadic lifestyle, though she maintains them as best she can. The scale mail she wears is reminiscent of her draconic features and accented with silver reinforcements, while her skirt is made from feathers in shades of autumn foliage.

Pragmatic and action-oriented, Raiya is always willing to get the job done, even if the best course of action is the most dangerous one. However, she is far from reckless, knowing all too well that one must be prepared to the utmost before committing to any one plan. She often does not waste words, as she is not one for small talk, having grown up in the wilderness without much practice for carrying conversations.

Her curiosity is another one of her most defining traits. When it comes to learning about and understanding nature and its ecology, she takes great pride in her work as a hunter and the logs she keeps of wildlife. She even does the drawings in her journal herself, part of her pursuit to understand and document all sorts of things she experiences in the hopes it will one day aid her.

Egg

During one of many nights spent alone in the wilderness, Raiya’s solitude came to an end when she discovered a strange and seemingly abandoned egg. As a self-appointed steward of the natural order, she chose to protect and raise whatever creature lay within.

To her surprise, the hatchling was not unlike the creatures she often hunted—a dromaeosaur, small and fragile at first, though quick to grow. She named it, unceremoniously, Egg.

As Egg grew, so too did her personality. Acting far more like a loyal hound than a wild predator, she remains a constant companion to Raiya both in and out of the field. The two hunt as a pair, moving in tandem and supporting one another as best they can.

Abilities

An excellent tracker and survivalist, Raiya does her best work in natural environments, often taking on scouting and reconnaissance roles when needed.

In combat, she fights in close coordination with Egg, the two working together to isolate and take down their prey. Wielding a variety of weapons, Raiya focuses on controlling her target's movement and making hefty strikes, creating exploitable openings while Egg maintains pressure and positioning.
