Log

The party is informed by a Council Assistant named Ari of a gathering of stagnant clouds above a specific area of the forests a few days travel from Onadbyr. The party spends three and a half days of uneventful travel, with Femi providing them with small game, bugs, and berries to eat. Tesa declares that she has a condition. They finally come to the edge of the cloud's influence, where everything is bathed in a muted purple hue. Purple lightning crackles around the perimeter, though it causes no thunder. A natural stone bridge that used to bridge the gap between them and the ground beneath the cloud has been destroyed. On the other side of the bridge is a humanoid corpse that seemed to have decayed at an accelerated rate, and what appears to be a giant mound of flesh. Using Femi's ladder to bridge the gap, the party crosses into the gloom, and immediately notice a difference in the air, especially the good-aligned characters, as the area seems to have a negative effect on them. Roland investigates the body and the mound of flesh, and realizes the mound is actually a gas bubble. As he's investigating, a large fleshy paw strikes out at Absinthe, which turns out to be attached to a lemure. Cacodaemons begin to appear as well and attack the party. Roland uses his esoteric knowledge to annihilate enemies, Absinthe Gets Scared, Bakus (Femi's summon) and Sade try their best to reach the floating daemons, Tesa fiddles clumsily with her shortbow, and Kit strikes down the lemure from afar with a single well-placed arrow shot.

With the visible enemies taken care of, the party decides to venture further into the cloud's area, and the environment grows darker and darker, until they find a long, winding path leading to a glowing, caved-in temple entrance with a large, crushed-to-death lemure on the steps out front. Along the path are four glowing purple crystals that chant in abyssal. Roland approaches a crystal to attempt to investigate it, but is rebuffed and takes mental damage. Absinthe is able to approach, and together they deduce that the crystals are used to summon demons, though the workmanship leaves something to be desired. Sade and Tesa move ahead while the rest stay back at the crystal. Kit disappears briefly.

Absinthe attempts to break the crystal, and the four immediately activate, summoning various demons- 4 cacodaemons, 2 cythnigots, and 1 lemure. Bakus gets Conditioned. No one gets diseased, except Bakus, despite the demons' best efforts. The party dispatches the demons without too much of a fuss, and the last cythnigot attempts to flee, but Kit manages to cut it down with an arrow from 200ft away. With the demons gone, the party is able to destroy the crystals, leaving them in darkness save for the glow of the temple, which remains. The party collects Unholy Water from the pillars that the crystals sat on and find a Walking Cauldron and 20 gold, then return to Onadbyr to report their findings.
