Text RP etiquette

When engaging in text based roleplay with other characters, it's important to follow etiquette guidelines so everyone can stay organized and invested. The following are a handful of tips to help you better communicate in the text RP channels.

  1. Use "quotation marks" when communicating what your character says.
  2. Use Italics when communicating what your character does or thinks.
  3. Use (parenthesis) when giving out-of-character information to the other players, or to ask an out-of-character question.
  4. Don't butt into an active roleplay unless you have a reason of being involved.
  5. When multiple players are involved in a roleplay, you can use numbers to organize yourselves by which order you'll be posting in. This prevents several people from simultaneously typing long RP texts that might be invalidated by someone else who submitted theirs quicker.
  6. Don't start a different RP in a channel that is actively being used. Patiently wait for it to be free or start your RP in a different channel.
  7. When you finish a text RP, make sure to have the final message in the channel be an (end) so others know the channel is now free to use.
  8. Optionally agree on a date and time your in-character RP took place on the calendar, so all parties are aware of what information they would know.
