Off on another hunt, we went and met up with this Qualily lady that apparently hurt her leg back on the last job associates took out here. She's walking on it now, though she ain't much of a runner at the moment by her own words. She gave us the rundown, more and more monsters keep showing up in the valley and there's less and less hunters to cull them. Worse, we're hunting a new one that hasn't been seen in the valley before. Qualily was gonna stick with us and be our info lady, we just needed to be the ones cleaning up whatever mess we come across. Also that shin-deep river water near the camp is weirdly floatly when you walk in it, not as hard to move through as regular water. As if this place ain't weird enough as-is.
Along the trip we found some tufts of white fur loaded with static electricity. Bit of blood too, but not a lot. We followed the trail, ending up with some big boar looking things called "Bullfango" in our path. Territorial as all get-out, and unfortunately scattered all about the path of the white fur we're following. They started their squealing and charging us as soon as we got close enough to get spotted by one, so we killed a few. One called in a big one, called a "Bulldrome" or something, which trampled poor Bonko. Taka healed him up, but I still feel a little bad for dodging it rather than trying to stop it from hitting the little guy. Me and Wrax killed it about as quickly as the rest of them though, while Sssst tortured a boar to near-death in the back. Put that poor shit out of its misery too. The boar, not Sssst. Sssst was having the time of his life doing that shit.
Near the end of the fight Bonko went to try and finish off the last boar that was doing all the squealing far from us, but with the big bull gone apparently our quarry decided to show up and snatch up the last boar. Something called a "Tobi Kodachi" leapt outta the trees and killed that boar in a flash. If not for Taka speeding up Wrax and that little goblin dude wrecking its tail the second he got close enough, I was worried it was gonna try and get its claws on Bonko next. Scream that came outta that thing before it fled back into the trees told me all I needed to know about how it liked that halberd to the backside. With a new trail to follow and a lot more blood this time, we were off after a short rest.
Took us about two hours, but we found it in its nest. It had a bit of time to rest and eat so it was in better condition than before, and it was electric as all-hell too. Its roar stunned Bonko for a second, and just being near it had my fur sticking up everywhere that wasn't pinned down. Wrax hitting it gave him a bit of a shock, but Sssst was able to get it on the ground and hold it there for a second. Wrax busted up its mane before it could fully escape, stunning it long enough for me to cut straight through its forelimbs and bring it to the ground for good. It died real quick, but I get the feeling it would've been really damn hard to catch if it had gotten back up into the trees like it had been during its first escape. If anyone else fights these things, don't give 'em a break. Works pretty well from the looks of it.
Qualily had also told us before about the elders of her village not thinking we were up to snuff for helping out with these hunts, but I think we proved ourselves pretty well here. Wrax even had the great idea to let them have all the meat and materials from everything we killed, nice and dead proof we're real damn good at killing things. Let's hope it's good enough to get us some more work in this valley, I'm excited to fight more big monsters.
