It sounds like there have been some developments at the Valeran dig site, another big beast that's getting closer to the dig site. It sounds like it's gonna be pretty tasty, so I signed up. The creature has a pair of giant, twisting horns, and a club-like tail. The scouts can't decide what color it is, so there might be a mated pair? They have a pair of vestigial wings, but they mostly travel on land. One of the scouts reports that the one they saw charged at them, that sounds like something those big horns could be used for. Dar suggests that these sound like herbivores, possibly a bonded pair that are moving a clutch of eggs. Dar also gets into an argument with a scout named Dumbass over a misunderstanding over what an oasis is. It doesn't sound like the creatures have any way to attack airborne creatures, so we scout from the air. I forgot to prepare fly spells, so I use Motherine's collar of empathy to see through her eyes. The scouts describe the creatures having been sighted near a big statue, and we find one with some greenery near it. Illiam detects magic from the statue, perhaps that might be why this part of the desert is so lush with greenery? The statue is blessed by Balumbdar the World-shaker. It doesn't take long before we see the beasts, one of them with a sandy-colored shell and one with a black shell. They try and scare us away from the oasis. The black-shelled one gores me with its horns and almost pushes me off a cliff. Sahona picks me up, and we try and retreat possibly split them up. I slip and fall out of Sahona's grasp as we escape. We eventually manage to escape their territory, and we manage to trick the two of them into fighting eachother. A violent mating ritual, that also serves to keep people away. Dar proposes we take some time to regroup and re-prepare with the information we now have. Illiam used magic to throw a really big rock at sandy-scales, and some sort of magic went off to cause briars to sprout under them. These things really like roaring really loudly. Dar almost decimates sandy-scales with chain lightning, and then Illiam used a spell to completely shut its brain down. That just leaves black-scales, who doesn't go down as easy. It hits Dar, Sahona, and Catpanion a LOT, while also seeming to be resistant to our spells. We eventually take it down, and Illiam brings up the idea of making armor out of it. As good as I'd look in it, it'd be too heavy for me.
