Commissioned by the Round Table to do some training, a group of associates were sent to an island that contained a large ruined stone building. Getting there required the aid of what I believe to be some manner of holy man (from how he was addressed) and the usage of his boat. I would have thought I'd be more comfortable in large bodies of water like a river, but seeing so much in one place made me anxious as the vessel rocked on its surface. Thank goodness my steadying arm was among our number to make the trip bearable. One of the associates accompanying us had been on a similar expedition in the past, and he was able to lead directly to where this slab resided. Nudging the slab off its pedestal caused markings on it to glow, and suddenly we found ourselves besieged by goblins, hobgoblins, and kobolds. Looking into the eyes of these people, they seemed like empty vessels, facsimiles of sentient creatures bar a spark sentience. The implications of such I dare not dwell on, especially in the moment as they attempted to lay us low. However, primarily thanks to fantastic displays of magic and martial prowess by Peaches, our band of associates routed these strange beings. The next and final wave of opponents were numerous draconic like creatures that I now believe to be drakes. We were hard pressed, forced to use the remainder of our strength to slay the fierce beasts. With the knowledge that we likely would not be able to sustain another bout of opponents without a member of our group falling, we returned the slab.
