Associates raided the last two locations and defended the town against the summoned beast.
Log
What a mess of a situation. This is hopefully the last time I or any of the other associates have to deal with this. It was the second day of the search, as last time we got our asses kicked by the last cultist in that horrible dungeon we went to. Alas, here I am again, along with Tris the rabbit as well, and two others were assigned to this mission as well: a priestess named Clementine and an automata named King of Dance. If I am correct, they were one of the ones who discovered the cult in the first place.
We all gathered not too far from the first location we wished to investigate. It was this long building that was reported to have a vile, and I very much do mean VILE, stench not too different from a pile of rotting corpses steeped in a mass grave. There was little indication it had relation to the investigation, but the smell was cause enough to make our way inside, K.O.D. (King of Dance) took the initiative and kicked down the door with effort. When the Doors swung open, the air inside assaulted my nostrils. The foul stench worsened with the thickness of the humid air. The room that greeted us was tall, from what I could estimate, about 40 feet. There was a table in the center of the room with bricks and tools scattered along its surface, presumably those tools used to make this place's interior. the only way forward was two flights of stairs, blanketed with fumes would bring us further into the building, where the purpose of the building would reveal itself. What looked to be extending to the remaining length of the building were an array of messy and unsafe walkways, along with a vat of what would later be discovered are some kind of chemical that would burn to the touch and would have most definitely killed us if any of us were to fall. 4 lost souls greeted us on these walkways what would seem to be the creations of the cult. These creatures would have been easily dealt with until our 'bait' peeked behind the curtain and revealed themself. This cultist attempted to incapacitate the griffon clementine summoned before summoning something of his own. A large skeletal warrior with a glaive, dwarfing even itself. The griffon and the warrior were locked in fierce battle as Clementine commanded it from the back while K.O.D bravely dueled the bait. The skirmish was swift, and it didn't take long for the K.O.D. to knock out the bait. and saving us some time, the griffon carried the unconscious bait to the entrance of the building, where we all collected after a swift inspection of the remainder of the building, where evidence was confiscated.
For the time being, we brought our bait into the asylum we cleared the day before. It didn't take long for him to awake, begging and pleading for a quick death. Fortunately, he would get his wish, but only before suffering the anxiety of the possibility of being consumed by the beast. I did find his foolhardy threats on our lives hilarious, forcing a faint smile on my face, I must admit. On our way out, Clementine ordered for the baits throat to be slit if the beast was to arrive early.
Now, the church, honestly, there is not much to say on the matter of the church; it was old, small, and in the middle of the city. Cold and damp, I found this place to be eerie, not helped by the statues covered in drapes and a cold stone altar to a god with no name centered in the room. We, as a group, searched the few rooms of the church quickly, save for a door with a lock on the other side. figuring there is no other option, K.O.D kicked down the door, which opened up into a room with a trapdoor leading to a ladder descending into a cave. The Cave wasn't much to write home about, just a small cave with a puddle in the center, decorated by a stalagmite. Then there was the noise of panic, the last cultist, it seems, he assailed us with a flurry of bombs, trying to subdue us quickly; alas, he fumbled the bottle, and not a thing happened. the ensuing fight was quick, leading to us killing this cultist at the foot of the ladder. Clementine mentioned that it'd be wise to return to the bait as soon as possible, seeing as how the beast could return at any moment. We all agreed, and K.O.D. quickly scavenged the little that was left.
It didn't take long after we left for shit to hit the fan. it started with a loud crash and screams and shouts of the townsfolk fleeing in terror. Those sounds were not fun to reexperience. But quickly we raced to the asylum where the bait was being held, almost at full sprint. What worsened the whole ordeal is that the damn thing was invisible! It smashed through the building, seeming to want to take the shortest possible path to its target. It eventually gave me the opportunity to use the rubble against it, and for a moment me and Tris noticed it flicker in and out of its invisibility. With the beast slowed for a moment, Clementine guided us through shortcuts throughout the town. K.O.D. performed some kind of trick on the beast to disorient it, and Tris did the same with some kind of spell. but we made haste, and we eventually made it to the asylum in time for us to ready our defenses, which weren't much to write home about. When the beast finally appeared, it showed itself, revealing itself to be the horrible abomination of eyes, limbs, faces, and maws only held up by feet that looked like trunks. The beast was fierce and rank as it approached. I couldn't help but wretch at the foul aroma it had, and my memory was hazy on the events after the beast was enraged at its denial of what it came here to kill. As Clementine summoned a leech to help distract the beast, it charged forward and trampled through us before flailing around its many tentacles, slamming into a few of us, me and Tris in particular, looking like it knocked them down. I had retreated into an adjacent room to try and cleanse myself of sickness, but the putrid aroma the beast had kept me from doing so. As such, I resorted to simply flinging loose objects at the beast as spells flew and leeches leached and K.O.D. putting belt to ass on the thing. As for the specifics of the battle, I can't recall much than that, but when I finally came too. The beast was dead...
