The council received a letter asking for assistance in dealing with an evil witch.

Entry 22, The Witch Hunt in Greybark

Today was tough. Me, Sutton (the one with the fancy moves), Kasumi (the one with the weird fire and water powers), and Liminal ( the one with the fancy spells) went on a mission. Witch hunt, we called it.

Some village four days ride away, Greybark, sent letters to the council. First one asking for help with an evil witch. Next one said they burned her, and now she's mad.

No trial or nothing Liminal aid over and over again. Not sure why, must ask him. Goblin’s don’t do trials, at least not as far as Wrax knows.

We got there after four days. I tried to share my beer but only the driver wanted some. Maybe they don’t know it’s magic and never runs out? No, I told them. Maybe they don’t like beer? Or maybe they don’t like Wrax?

Went to the inn, heard about the witch, Amba. Burned alive. Now she's killing folks in the village. Sad stuff.

Talked to Nirav and his Mom. Amba helped Ingar once, but she didn't stand up for her. We visited Nirav and his mom Antelia. Nirav was a mess, didn't talk much. Magic stuff, very complicated.Sutton tried, but he just flinched when we talked about Amba.

Liminal used some mind magic, and I got hit outside by something I couldn’t see. Voice gone, huge pain. Managed to stay up, though. Burst through a window, couldn't talk still. We chased and killed a little creature. Me and Nirav could talk again. Ate some weird dinner at Ingar's.

I gave them money to fix the window, four gold pieces. Maybe too much, but Goblin’s have a bad enough reputation without breaking windows and not paying.

Went back to Ingar, she hears voices. We explored, found a magical doll. I broke it into pieces. Ingar didn't help burn Amba, but she didn't help her either. Amba helped Ingar many times with salves and potions to help her sore bones, but when the time came Ingar no help the witch.

Can’t blame her, she old and weak and mobs are scary. Would have been two women burning if she had tried to help. I guess Amba not see it that way though.

Went to Amba’s hut in the swamp. Cold and weird magic. It was a haunt, not on purpose though, we could tell that much.

We tried to speak with Amba. Me and Kasumi were thinking about the runes and how that could help us when I noticed Sutton had built a stage (how?).

Since I stopped my gladiator job I don’t really get much of a chance to perform in front of a crowd so I helped with the song and dance.

It worked, Amba let us in.

Found out she was helping the villagers. She lost a child, maybe. I told her about my kids, Mal, Sal, and Cal. She spoke with us through the doll I bring with me to keep the little ones close by.

The doll/Amba wanted us to take care of her undead children. Kids who never knew a parents love cursed to be reborn as nightmares.

Kasumi did some rites, we buried bones, and made a grave for Amba. Engraved, "Here lies Amba, caretaker of the young and lost."

The town agreed to care for the children. Kasumi and Liminal did some talking, used fear magic, and convinced the town to agree to terms to end things.

Leaving Greybark now. Amba's story is sad, but we did what we could. Hope she finds peace.
