Creating New Player Accounts

Once a new player has passed their interview, they will need a FoundryVTT account. To generate an account for this user, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your GM account.
  2. Click on the 'Game Settings' tab.
  3. Click the 'User Management' button.
  4. Click 'Create Additional User'. A new user named "Player##" will be added to the bottom of the list.
  5. Edit the new user's name to match their username in Discord. This can be found underneath their nickname on their Discord profile.
  6. Generate a secure password for the user and type it into the 'Password' box.
  7. Make sure their 'User Role' is set to 'Player'. It should do this automatically.
  8. Use the steps in Creating a Sheet for a New PC to generate a blank character sheet for them.
  9. Direct message the player their log in information (Username and Password) and let them know they're good to go!

Creating New GM Accounts

New GMs need a second account with GM permissions. To generate the account, follow these steps:

  1. Follow steps 1-4 above.
  2. Edit the User Name to be "DM" + the name they commonly go by. For example, DM Dag or DM Foster.
  3. Scroll up to the user's Player account and copy their current password.
  4. Paste the password into the 'Password' box. The user's GM and Player accounts should have the same password.
  5. Change their 'User Role' to 'Assistant GM'. Do not make them a 'Game Master'.
  6. Go to the image browser and navigate to 'assets.'
  7. Click on the folder icon (Create Directory) at the top of the window to create a GM folder for the new GM.
  8. Create a folder for them in the Scenes, Actors, and Compendium Packs tabs.
    1. In their compendium folder, create a compendium for Scenes, Actors, and Items.
  9. Direct message the new GM their log in information.

Removing Accounts

If for whatever reason a player or GM needs to lose access to their account (due to a ban, etc.), their access can be easily removed by following these steps:

  1. Go to the User Management page.
  2. Find the user that needs to be deleted.
  3. Click the delete/trash can icon on the far right.
  4. Confirm.
