So this first job was a bit of a mess. We went into the palace with everyone else, prepared and headed off to deal with the mass of shadows and all that. Shadows themselves weren't hard, blew half of them away in one sunburst really, but there was this giant shadow vortex that we couldn't get rid of. Only that Isaac guy knew how to disable it, and no matter how hard I healed him he ended up dying anyway. The other team meant to clear the path for the pro team was gotten by the metal person and the one with the ponytail. The rat just sorta blew away the vortex with some gadget while I turned into a dragon and escaped. Other Hat Guy is taking dead guy back to someone to get him revived or something. Me and the crossbow elf from the other team are gonna go gather up more people for a second attempt tomorrow. | So this first job was a bit of a mess. We brought a new team in to help us out, and all three teams set out again. We headed deeper in, had to deal with some blue guys with chains and that vanyver thing, the red skeleton with wings. Then some wraiths and stuff showed up, it wasn't that bad, but it took a bit. We just had one area left to clear out, and it looked easy at first, all we saw was another vanyver. I even sunbursted the whole area and didn't reveal anything else. Then, the team went in and got surprised by a big worm thing, an "Urveth"? It had 4 hands and a bunch of insect legs, so more like a millipede really. Apparently ponytail, stick-fighter and the bull had to deal with a light blindness curse from one of the wraiths in the previous fight.
We managed to kill the vanyver quick, but the urveth was a lot more tricky. It was smart too, its aura thing pulled Mantella in the second I stepped away, and it got him killed. Maybe that was more of me being stupid, I should've stayed up front to protect my brother. It ate him the first chance it got because I was too safe around it.
After we gutted the creature, we retrieved my brother and headed back to the warehouse. There were people in Onadbyr to revive him, so I wasn't too worried about that. We just had to wait for the other teams to get back, see how they did. Before then though, there was the curse on the other three. Vara and Aster got over it, but it kept getting worse for Kirrily. She had me promise to kill her if she turned into a vampire or something, then it made her pass out. I identified it as a curse that would turn her into a wraith if it killed her, but all she had to do was recover a bit while in the sun to get past it. Before then it gave light blindness, but you had life sense during that hour. If it kept getting worse you'd start to heal like an undead instead of a living person. Then you'd pass out for a day, waiting to see if you reached the final, lethal threshold. I could also cure it, but I needed time to prepare those spells. She had a day to live or die, so I spent the night preparing my spells while we waited for the pro team to clear out the palace heart and get rid of this darkness.
Morning eventually came, and apparently we were the only team to lose anybody. I was able to cure Kirrily at least, so the job only had two deaths to its name. |
