When we arrived we were briefed by the commanding officer of the camp. The job was mainly investigation and scouting the area for fiend activity, however the main issue is that the area affected is so massive there is no way to determine a definite source of the corruption. This meant we were gonna have to improvise using our brains. We prepared our gear and supplies and set off to the drop off point. Once we arrived they told us good luck, we got out, and that was it. We discussed our plans and how we would navigate the vast area, and while it seem daunting at first, but as the The Great sage taught our ancestors, "Dare to ask where is the road, and you will learn that it is under your feet."<br> | When we arrived we were briefed by the commanding officer of the camp. We decided to head toward the nearby village with a desecrated field nearby. When we got there things seemed off. Just then, another one of those mantis warriors like the one from that cursed dream some of were brought into. Luckily the experience from before made this one much more manageable to deal with. The same could not be said for the 3 wargs that joined him. Those suckers hit like a catapult and could breath blizzards, but we were able to overcome the challenge and continue our investigation. So far we had only found dead plants and no animals, a consistent outcome where ever we checked.<br> | We decided to head toward the nearby village with a desecrated field nearby. Later we were walking through a dense forest and KoD noticed something quite strange, a tree of all things seemed to be following us. Frankly I wasn't willing to take a chance so I just shot at the tree he pointed out and low and behold, a tree man emerged. Needless to say they weren't happy. At one point he even shrunk down to a small size, ran up, and slapped Theo for throwing a fire bomb at him. Not gonna lie it was pretty funny, but we stopped the tree man soon after and even lifted some weird curse it put on us. AND TO ANYONE WHO SAYS I WAS TOO HASTY TO ATTACK IT, WELL MAYBE IT SHOULDN'T HAVE FOLLOWED US IN SUCH A MENACING AND STRANGE MANOR!!! Seriously, it would do all beings some good to just be honest and approachable. If your gonna hide from us in a cursed forest don't be mad when you get hit by needle darts, just saying.<br> | Later we were walking through a dense forest and KoD noticed something quite strange, a tree of all things seemed to be following us. Our investigation continued and we ran into something concerning. A demon, and an ugly one at that. KoD scouted ahead to get a look at it and it seemed to be some kind of gluttony demon. While gross, it wasn't what we were looking for based on what we could deduce. Probably just drawn here by the state of the land. And speaking of scouting, that's exactly what that demon did to us. It hurled nasty half digested meat and was quite bothersome. Good thing it underestimated us and got sloppy, pun intended. Raiya was able to pull the flying fiend to the ground and from there we pretty much just beat it to death. Fun times. Unfortunately we still need to find the source of the lands corruption, but we knew we were getting close.<br> | Our investigation continued and we ran into something concerning. Suddenly, among the eerie silence of the absent animals, a large, and frankly disgusting, beast of a daemon appeared in the distance. It didn't notice us and good thing too because while I tend to pride myself on my ability to overcome challenges with my allies help, but it would have been suicide to fight that thing. On a scale of -2 to 24, gotta give it a 15. Definitely out of my skill range, currently. At least we could confirm the cause of the corruption and it was just as bad as the Holdfasts predicted. The horseman of famine, Trailmix or something, was at work and sending daemons to do his dirty work. I swear these horseman of the apocalypse sure do love to boast about their "immense power" but they really only ever send others to do their bidding. Makes me sick personally.<br> | Suddenly, among the eerie silence of the absent animals, a large, and frankly disgusting, beast of a daemon appeared in the distance. Today's tale: The Fiendish Presence in the Fields of Famine
I was summoned by my fellow Holdfasts to deal with some kind of issue regarding a very likely fiendish power located near a village and forest about a week or two away. In then moment, I was quite excited to see that the Holdfasts seem to recognize my talents. Not that I didn't think they would, I am pretty great. I arrived to the wagon alongside Raiya, Moz, KoD, Theo, and Busiate and we set out to the Holdfast camp.
We discussed our plans and how we would navigate the vast area, and while it seem daunting at first, but as the The Great sage taught our ancestors, "Dare to ask where is the road, and you will learn that it is under your feet."
So far we had only found dead plants and no animals, a consistent outcome where ever we checked.
Later we were walking through a dense forest and KoD noticed something quite strange, a tree of all things seemed to be following us. Frankly I wasn't willing to take a chance so I just shot at the tree he pointed out and low and behold, a tree man emerged. Needless to say they weren't happy. Seriously, it would do all beings some good to just be honest and approachable. If your gonna hide from us in a cursed forest don't be mad when you get hit by needle darts, just saying.
