Log

Obtaining mounts to shorten our travel time, we headed back to Lancaster. Starting from the farmhouse we headed to the jail. After Bright Eyes and Sade took a moment to eat soup for some particular reason, we headed through the metal entrance door, adorning a sunburst made of nails. The symbol of the Order of the Nail. Inside we found a desk protected by bars, unsurprisingly. Beyond the bars we could see two statues and a set of keys on the wall. I noticed the statues were not connected to anything, and we were able to surmise they could come alive. With a splash of holy water from Hiromi, they did exactly that. They were an exceptionally difficult fight for us, countering most positive energy with a necrotic aura of some sort. They also toted greatswords lined with an otherworldly chill, making them hit rather hard. Nonetheless, they eventually were brought down.

After taking some time to rest and heal up, we collected the keys and headed to the door on the right of the entrance, which I noticed a Godclaw symbol beside. Inside we found only a dusty chapel, taken to time rather than destruction. Outside of a holy book that doubled as a spellbook, likely for signifiers, I found nothing of value in the room. We then examined the door past where the statues had been, finding a hallway that likely led somewhere important. We left that for later, choosing to head to the left side next.

Heading past a dining hall full of rotten foods, we found a hallway that led us to the jail cells. From there came a hulking skeletal creature that Sade held off, a specter that possessed Fen and Grist long enough to make them run into danger further in the cell block, multiple wights that Fen and Grist drew the attention of, and a handful of shadows that the rest of us had to maneuver around to keep from causing too much trouble. Between this battle and the previous encounter with the ghostly armors, we decided that we would need to take an hour to rest afterwards. Sade also collected the two armors of which Hiromi and I were fairly certain were cursed in some capacity.

Getting everyone back into fighting shape, we headed back down past the cells to what looked to be some sort of execution chamber, complete with rather utilitarian gallows. There was also the spirit of a woman wrapped in ephemeral chains at the center of the room, no doubt a trap. We headed around to take the stairs down, spotting a door in which our final set of enemies would emerge from. A particularly large wraith spoke to us of how long it had been since it last spilt blood, then summoned its "brothers" from all around. Between them and the shadows that also joined the fray, it was a bloody battle that nearly took my life.

Within that large room we found more undead, putting most out of their misery within their cages, save for a zombified dragon we chose not to interact with. Hiromi was able to coax the female spirit, a woman of the "People of the Willow", into accepting her people were gone and moving into the afterlife. From there we warded the jail and departed, hoping the wards will wear the dragon down into nothingness over time. It was fully contained within the cage it found itself in. As long as nobody causes it trouble, I believe it will quietly remain there long enough either for us to find a better option for dealing with it, or for the wards to wear it down enough for a proper severing to happen. The job was done though, and we departed with what we were able to find.
