Shops in Onadbyr run by Associates and former Associates are a major part of the player economy, as they can provide access to items too rare, too powerful, or too niche for the civilian shops. The Fleamarket is the most common way for Associates to hawk their wares, but more established shops can be set up in the FoundryVTT for the low low price of six (6) Karma. Shops don't need to have any sort of theme, but it can help sales to be known for something.

Setting Up Shop (Player)

Before opening a ticket, be sure to have the following ready:

  • Six (6) Karma.
  • A short (or long!) description of the shop. This can include where it is, what it looks like, or just a basic summary of wares. Make sure to include what character(s) run the shop!
  • A name for the shop.
  • An image/logo for the shop.
  • Which players should have ownership of the shop.
  • What percent of cost you would like to set the prices as. E.g., 100% (base price), 105%, 120%, etc.

To set up your shop:

  1. Open a ticket and input the information above.
  2. Once a Firekeeper has created the sheet, stock the shop by dragging and dropping the items from your character sheet to the shop sheet. For more information on managing your shop, see below.

Restrictions

  • Item prices cannot be individually. The prices can be set to a certain percentage of cost, or a certain percentage of cost based on item type (equipment, armor, consumable, etc.).
  • Only GMs can open/close the shop, adjust ownership, change the shop image, update descriptions, and change the percentage adjustment for items. If you need any of these things done, open a ticket!

Setting Up Shop (GM)

  1. Go to the Marketplace folder and click the 'Create New Actor' icon. Set the name of the shop, set type to 'Loot', and make sure it's in the Marketplace folder.
    1. The sheet will appear like a loot pile initially. Don't worry about it.
  2. Set the image for the shop by clicking on the large white chest. Navigate to assets/player_characters/shops and upload the file. Click 'Select File' to add it to the sheet.
  3. On the top bar of the loot pile, click 'Configure'.
  4. Modify the following fields in the 'Main Settings' tab:
    1. Enabled (Whether this should act as an item pile) - checked.
    2. Interaction Distance - delete 1. The field should say 'Infinity' and be grayed out.
    3. Edit Description - add shop description from player.
  5. Modify the following fields in the 'Other Settings' tab:
    1. Item Pile Type - Merchant. This will unlock more settings.
    2. Infinite Currencies - unchecked.
    3. Keep Zero Quantity - checked.
    4. Purchase Only - checked.
    5. Only accept base price - unchecked.
    6. Buy Price Modifier - set to what the player decided.
  6. Set the Ownership of the shop. Right click on the shop in the folder, then click 'Configure Ownership'. Make sure 'All Players' is set to 'Observer', and the users controlling the characters who own the shop are set to 'Owner'.
  7. Let the player(s) know their shop is ready.

Managing Shops (Player)

From the main screen of your shop, you have limited editing capabilities.

  • Click the eye icon to make the item invisible to players, while allowing you to keep it in the shop.
  • Click the shop icon to mark the item as not for sale.
  • The shopping cart icon is for normal buying.

To edit inventory, take out money, or change the name of the shop, click 'Open Sheet' on the top bar of the shop.

  • All inventory should only come from your character's inventory. You can drag and drop from your character sheet to the shop sheet, and vice versa.
  • To remove stored gold, drag and drop it from the shop sheet.
  • Once the items are in the shop sheet, you can update the name or description of the item by clicking on the edit button next to the item. This is usually done for flavor purposes. Do not change the price.
  • Do not delete items if you no longer want to sell them, drag and drop them back to your character sheet.
  • To edit the name of the shop, click the name at the top of the sheet.

Retired PC Shops

Retired Associates may continue to operate their shop, or open a new one. Shops follow the guidelines above (including Karma cost), with the following additional requirements:

  • Quantity set to Unlimited/Infinite.
  • Price set to 125% of cost.
  • Twelve (12) item slots. Permanent items count as 2 slots. Each "level" of an item counts as a unique item ("Lesser", "Moderate", etc.) For example, you could have 6 permanent items; 12 consumable items; or 3 permanent items and 6 consumables.
  • Items can consist of anything that the character had a formula for before retiring.
