Established Lore
During roleplay and in backstories much lore has been established that changes or extends the official Golarion canon. This page lists some details that may be relevant to character interactions or session planning.
Ancestries
Fetchling
Origin
Fetchlings evolved in the Shadow Plane, but many have also settled in the material world. All that currently live in Onadbyr are from a village in an unspecified location, established by fetchlings that fled the Shadow Plane during the Collapse. Future fetchlings may originate from the same village (please contact Unseelie for details), or may be from an entire different location.
Culture
Not much has been established regarding the culture of fetchlings, since all resident ones mostly adapted to the practices of Onadbyr. It has come up that the name "Kayal" for fetchlings is known to them, but they have not shown any specific preference on how they want to be called.
Language
Shadowtongue is mostly based on Finnish, though this is not a hard rule for future fetchling players. It has also been implied that the human ancestors of fetchlings spoke a language resembling German.
The language has words for grey/white hair from age that differs from the colour descriptor, also implying the texture difference. Though even for fetchlings it is hard to visually tell apart hair greyed by age from the almost white hair of especially light haired fetchlings.
Biology
The inner parts of fetchlings are as colourless as their hair and skin. This means they blush and bleed grey.
Shadow
Fetchling shadows start out as non-sapient and barely sentient, slowly developing more independence over time together with getting the ability to touch solid objects. Fetchlings from the above-mentioned village usually refer to their shadow as it/its, with only very few shadows showing a preference for different pronouns once they are sapient enough to understand the concept.
It appears that a fetchling growing their personal power accelerates this process. Mechanically this is represented by the various shadow-related ancestry feats.
Fetchlings in Onadbyr
As of Winter 225, there are two fetchlings living in Onadbyr, the twin sisters Tarina and Taso Autio.
Heritages
Changelings
Changelings, or children of a hag mothers, are most often recognized by their heterochromatic eyes- one of which always corresponds to their hag mother. While Changelings are not discriminated against in Onadbyr, that may not be the case elsewhere- especially in settlements where hags are particularly reviled. The specifics of the backstory are up to the player.
In Kelek, Changelings are haunted by the Call, a psychic urging by their mother to join her coven. The Call serves as a connection between the Changeling and their hag mother, though the specifics of the connection are yet unknown. It can cause nightmarish visions that haunt the Changeling, visions that prey on their deepest desires, or even just seemingly sourceless urges to leave their life behind. The Call grows stronger when a Changeling is near a domain of their mother, or their mother herself. How this is interpreted is up to the player. When the Call is at its strongest, the Changeling may be unable to control themselves, possibly losing memory of that time. The only way to completely stop the Call is through the death of the mother, which, if desired, can be handled through a session or arc ran by a GM. To start such an arc, open a Ticket to find an interested GM.
Calendar
Each month in real life matches one season consisting of 90 days in Kelek. The game started in Spring 223 (March 2023). It is therefore currently Summer 231.
