I suppose that I expected more going into my Hellknight Trial. At my request, I undertook my trial at the ancient Hellknight Citadel in Lancaster- the same place that Lictor Zeal undertook his own Hellknight Trial. I prepared my weapon with a silver salve and was offered the use of a few spells by Grist to aid me. I briefly considered saying No, but quickly came to the realization that I was only considering this for the sake of my own pride. I assented to Grist's spells and Lictor Zeal began the ceremony.
The devil was summoned- a vordine who wielded a trident and whip. She attempted to keep me at range while I maintained my defenses. Once cornered, I was able to catch her foot when she kicked out at my shield and topple her to the edge of the combat ring. Prone and defenseless, I ran her through. With the combat portion of the trial completed, Lictor Zeal announced my success and asked me to speak the edicts of the Order of the Torrent. I did so and was named the Lictor of the Torrent.
I will proudly serve in my new role, working to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
