Associates get pulled into an incorrect re-telling of the fight against Clerasil.
Log
This one was an odd one. Grist and I were at the Ashenforge Guild Hall of Onadbyr to meet with some illegal re-sellers causing problems in Desperate Hope, because for some reason Grist insists on talking it out with petty criminals. Unrelated to that however, the two of us, Illiam, and Pomba were pulled into some sort of spell. Apparently a bard within the room, one Mikael, was responsible for this according to eye-witness Illiam Elro. I will get into the recommended consequences for this criminal after my full report.
It started off rather simple, with us fighting an unexpectedly tiny lich. It died with ease, but the voice of this "narrator" echoed around us. We would need to defeat the medusas that served this lich first, and each had bizarre powers. These ranged from a variety of detached, floating eyes to duplicating and even trivia that carried violent punishment for not getting the answer. The trivia was rather personal to associates on multiple occasions, as such I will not be repeating them within this report. Part way through this medusa onslaught is where the narrator took an "Intermission".

Associates finish their battle with Clerasil and the Medusas, according to Mikael.
Log
After the "Intermission", we returned to our battle. After butchering most of the Medusas, Clerasil came back as a hydra-lich. He carried a variety of spells to match the physical prowess of a hydra, but Illiam carried a Spellwrack spell that, as you might've guessed from the name, makes using spells very painful. That, along with Pomba mangling the body and my guisarme burning stumps as I sever heads, meant the hydra took little time.
We should've seen it coming though, the narrator announced that Clerasil just wouldn't be that easy to kill. The hydra revived again, and revived the dead medusas as well. Thankfully Grist had some clever wall spells that meant most of the medusas, sans the burrowing one, couldn't get to us for some time. One that Grist previously trapped in a stone wall also finally emerged, covered in blood. I'm not sure if that one died or not originally. Regardless, we went back to crushing the hydra that was trapped between Pomba and an ice wall. Same as before it wasn't too much of an issue, though those medusas were rather insistent in shooting me with arrows while I did my job. Once we killed Clerasil for good, we did sort them out though. The sphinx-medusa that was spouting nonsensical trivia questions was the last to go, as they weren't much of a problem as long as we knew the answers to the questions posed. With that handled, the story ended and we immediately apprehended Mikael. It is my duty to report the bard was somewhat roughed up by the other associates, but it was an understandable reaction given the situation. We're just lucky no civilians got pulled into this fight, with the presence of many non-associates in that same guild hall. The criminal is apprehended, and that brings me to my next point.
Punishment for this one is necessary, I believe this very firmly. My request this time around is 50 lashes before exiling. If they die they die, but some of my hellknights are more than capable of delivering the punishment with minimal risk of death. Execution would also be sufficient for the risk of civilian lives on an unknown scale within the city, but I cannot in good faith recommend that without full knowledge of the dangers of the storybook illusion used. Goods were also confiscated from the criminal, and I have logged them as such.
