Associates meet Maera, the daughter of "the Father", to discuss the leadership and direction of the werecreature organization.
Log
With the assistance of Colin, our new contact, Grist arranged a meeting by a river some days north of Desperate Hope, for us to speak to the lieutenant named Mira. Colin spotted our camp in time for the meeting. There, we learned that there were no survivors of our last diplomatic meeting other than Colin and "the Father" himself. The negotiations were delicate so I refrain from reporting on how the proverbial sausage was made, but in the end we discovered the most likely means for us to achieve peace would be to neutralize the other lieutenants, who are less interested in territorial boundaries than Maera is. Maera appears to be interested only in humanoids and potentially livestock, not material resources, but offers to export valuable crafts, such as the armour she and her knights display proudly. We don't yet know how these nomads obtain advanced metal goods.
After the diplomatic meeting, we and the other party alike were ambushed by weretigers, wereboars, werewolf archers, and large rock creatures, in pairs. We (mostly Maera) easily defeated one weretiger and surrounded one of the rock creatures, but the rest quickly overwhelmed our position. Fortunately, aside from the rock creatures, these enemies were not very strong and we defeated them without major injuries. Fen, however, was pinned near the middle of the engagement and petrified by multiple strikes from one of the rock creatures while defending others. Maera expressed her regret and stood guard until Fen recovered. We allowed Maera to dispose of the surviving ambushers as she saw fit. She promised to send word later of a possible opportunity for us to strike at one of the other lieutenants during one of their more aggressive operations, in the future.
