We've been hired to figure out what's been happening with some merchants. There has been some attacks and people's works have been mysteriously done for them, which seems completely unrelated. We visit the haberdasher and he foolishly tells us that he's a heavy sleeper and didn't notice when his shop's been broken into. I look around at the exploitable entrances and see some clawed marks, which Sanaa saw as some sort of pangolin marks. The plant looked around and found a pink fey creature, and I'm immediately suspicious. These fey supposedly take over for artisans so that they can take a vacation. One of the murder victims and someone who was attacked were also artisans in the area, all of whom supposedly have these creatures in their walls. There are 3 more of these things so we started to look around. It's common knowledge about fey that they're never quite what they seem, but Plant seems to completely trust these bobakik.
We went to the luthier since he was attacked and we see his leg was broken. He tells us it was something smaller than him attacking him with his own tools. Looking in the back, the plant finds a fey but it's in its "angry form" or "kikabob", whatever compels them to help workers causes them to turn violent if the workers keep working, so we tell the guy to take a real vacation, which should be easy for him with a broken leg.
We visited the iron smith, and apparently my help to tell her shopkeeper about a fey infestation went unappreciated because her wife died, a very sad circumstance but then she went on to answer the questions about her great tragedy and described how she just left the body there. So we went to look around to find the fey and it was still a normal style pink thing. It got spooked when something broke in and killed the iron smith, so we went to look at the body and she clearly had a boot print on her head, which seemed to kill her. The room was broken into from the window, and whatever did it had a scratch and left some green blood. We followed the trail to the cobbler.
This guy was incredibly squirrely, and while insisting on having us check his backroom, he wanted to go in the basement. I got in his way and insisted that we stick together, so we all went into his basement and found his bobakik. It was normal still, but the plant found a list of names, including the iron smith's name having been crossed off. Turned out the cobbler was a serial killer, but the bobakik thought that being a killer was his job so it went and actually murdered the iron smith. The cobbler readily admitted to it and sounded like hot shit, like he was going to kill us all. The bobakik realized the guy was still doing his day job and went berserk, and then I went in to finish the job with a classic knife to the chest. The families paid us for the closure, plant was going to give our earnings to the families but like.. it's their money they were giving to us for what we did. He's supposedly a lawyer, he should have some decent money to donate if he really wanted to demonstrate his condolences.
