Experience Points
Experience Points (XP) are rewarded for completing Expeditions. They take two forms; Assigned Experience Points and Free Experience Points.
Earning Experience
When an Expedition ends you'll be rewarded Experience based on its difficulty. A storyteller might choose to reward more or less Experience based on party performance like finding a unique and creative solution to the presented problem.
The Experience rewarded will almost always be between 150 - 350. Less Experience may be rewarded for participation in events that don't warrant an entire Expedition, or more may be rewarded for the conclusion of an arc or for a large boss fight. Regardless of how much Experience is rewarded, every party member will get the same amount.
What to use Experience For
Experience is primarily used to level up. It takes 1000 Experience Points to reach the next level. You can spend Experience Points on all of the following:
- Leveling Up.
- Exchange 500 XP for 1 Karma.
Types of Experience
Assigned Experience
Assigned Experience is the most common type of Experience you'll be earning. This type of experience is locked to a single character and cannot be transferred to other characters you might have. Expeditions always reward Assigned Experience unless an exception would turn that into Free Experience.
Free Experience
Free Experience is assigned to the player and not a specific character. A player can choose which one of their characters receives the experience points.
- When a character dies or retires.
- When Assigned Experience you would earn would take you to the next Tier of Play but you choose to not advance.
- From special events held by the server staff.
- From GMing a session.
