We encountered a magic surge on The Beat, which was handled by kobold guardsman.
We've been asked to investigate the surges by Levethixawin
Nosiferus (kobold) is here to talk things over with the party.
There's been a number of magic surges recently, and the last one caused a nasty confusion effect. After some time looking into it - it's natural, but not exactly natural. We've roughly triangulated the source or location of the surges. We suspect the magic in the area will be weird. It's not a source, per-se, but it amplifies natural magical effects.
After a day of travel, Tik transforms into a lycanthrope for 10 minutes abnormally. Upon Breatel eating some solid air, a shockwave knocked most of us down.
At the top of a steep hill, Breatel slides down on his shield. At the bottom of the hill, he discovers a few creatures hiding behind rocks.
We fight several aberrations - a couple Akatas, a Shadowless Mass, and a couple Contemplatives. The Shadowless Mass teleports away once its allies are defeated.
After wandering into the cave, we find it to be full of amazing glowing crystals. In the center of the largest part of the cavern lies what seems to be a powerful magic-surging crystal floating above a circular arrangement on the ground.
The Shadowless Mass appears once more, in a larger more potent form, before getting its butt whooped one more time for good.
We report the crystal cave back to Levethixawin, and they find it highly concerning but note that our description is useful.
