Log
Our group was assembled to meet with Councilwoman Ratschild- lovely woman, by the way, fantastic sense of fashion- who gave us our task. We were asked to escort Billy Bob Bobbin' Billy- fantastic picker, brave soul, he more than proved himself on our outing- to the mines where the rat-controlling banjo is hidden away. When we arrived at the mine, we were greeted by the corpses of two catfolk with one other who was in the final stages of filth fever. We spoke to the survivor, but before Absinthe- such a sweet girl, quite skilled in working with diseases- could treat his condition, quite a few rats appeared to attack. We fought off the swarm with only light injuries.
While we recovered and prepared to venture deeper into the mines, the rats returned in far greater numbers. There were too many to stand and fight so we fled ahead of them, deeper into the mines. Elasha- quite the contrast, fierce warrior and caring healer- and Absinthe quickly pulled to the front with their long legs. Sade- who proved himself more than reliable for our venture- and Aroth- whose knowledge of our environment and clumsiness in the same environment overflowed in equal amounts- held the middle of the group since were the most hindered by the state of our environment. Femi- such beautiful fur, always prepared for anything- and I took the rear.
Eventually we emerged at a large chamber where we encountered the body of the catfolk leader, somehow resurrected and altered so that it could spawn more rats, poor dear. Hoping that we would find the banjo after subduing the creature, our group leapt into action. Quite a battle it was! Though I could not employ my usual style of battle- the music that echoed through the chamber from the sinister string instrument gave me an ominous feeling- I moved to close the distance with Elasha and Bakus- Femi's companion, I don't believe I've ever seen such a mighty rodent. Several rats began to emerge behind us and Sade bravely moved to keep those at bay with the assistance of Absinthe, Aroth, and Femi. While engaging the catfolk's corpse- I will call it a "ratspawn" from now on for simplicity sake- I was ambushed by a hidden enemy somehow using the sound of a bell as a weapon. Elasha was downed and things were beginning to look desperate when more and more of the rats chasing us began to catch up. Absinthe's magics were able to revive Elasha as I struck the final blow on the ratspawn. We retreated from the mines, but not before the invisible foe was revealed- a small, ratfaced puppet wielding a bell. We will have to infiltrate the mines once again to retrieve the banjo once the rat swarms have settled.
