We are hired by the city guard of Onadbyr to watch the walls. Captain Black tells us that we are to watch towers 7 through 10, which for reference . I almost get them mixed up with towers on the other side of the river. We are also given a horn to blow when we see something suspicious, and we blow it twice when we see invaders. If we hear the horn being blown twice, we are instructed to go to the tower the horn is being blown from. K.O.D can switch between a bipedal and quadrupedal form. Apparently they switch between the two forms as they fight. I would like to see this in action someday. Viceroy Shadefrost puts down a tower behind the wall. A confusing defensive strategy, for we already have towers built into the wall. I hear the sound of someone knocking on wood. Upon further investigation, it looks like some concerned citizens who are worried about the sudden appearance of a tower. I inform Viceroy Shadefrost of this. From what I gather, the citizens also think this tower is unnecessary, and Shadefrost dropped it in the middle of an intersection, and they needed to get a cart through. Shadefrost puts the tower away and lets them pass, only to put it right back down. I get the feeling this is not going to be the last we hear of this tower. K.O.D points out a group of shadowy figures at the base of Viceroy Shadefrost's tower. I go to investigate, and find a group of children painting genitalia on it. Disgusting, but only a petty crime. I decide to ignore them. As I scale the wall to resume my patrols, a young man informs us that it is our lunch break. Viceroy Shadefrost goes off to scavenge for food, I brought a big steak sandwich. K.O.D does not eat. As our lunch break starts, we hear the sound of a single horn blast from the Northwest, at the border of the ripgate. It is on the other side of the city, so I figure it is not worth checking out. We then hear another horn from the Northeast, but do not notice anything. K.O.D goes to check it out, since he is more mobile than I. Apparently some of the guards found a weird squirrel and a piece of fried potato that looks like Serene. I do not think anyone should tell her that. We then hear two horn blasts, from the same places we heard the single blast. We go to investigate, and find that the guards stationed there have dealt with a small group of hobgoblins. There are horns going off everywhere except for our corner of the wall. I then hear a single horn to the east, and go to check it out. I find that the guards stationed there have sighted some hobgoblins in the night. I return to my post, prepared to deal with any intruders. Nothing else of note happens at our post. We hear the sounds of yelling on the other side of the Ripper, too far for us to get to. Captain Black invites us to go drinking, and we find out that Onadbyr was hit by the largest Hobgoblin invasion it has ever seen, and we did not see a single one of them. Such is the dealings of guard duty.
