After the towns food stores got hit by the rats, hunting and our trading partners are more important than ever. There is a local, small group that does the rounds with many villages, and they are never late. Until now. It’s been one week since they were scheduled to visit the town. The party has three days to find the caravan. If they can’t find it within six days, the party would still get paid the minimum of 5 gold. The party started off with talking to the hunter’s guild. Hiral, was met at the front desk. She was updated on the situation and offered to bring the party to her mother, Corwyn , the one who deals with the caravan. She let the party know that Jacob Jackbobson is the human in charge of the caravan. He is known to be of the greedy sort and disdains anyone who looks less than human. When he’s lying he has an obvious tell of rubbing his hands together and playing with his gaudy ring.
The party stopped by the general store to buy a repair kit for the caravan just in case they needed it. The party was told that Lady Harmon Blue, a chef within the town, might have some information on Jacob Jackbobson, so they stopped by her establishment. She listed off a series of names, including a Mr. Beaks, a Tengu, and Ladia, a Kitsune, that often goes off with Jacob Jackbobson, along with many more that have left throughout the months and years. Additionally, she told the party that one of the guards that travel with Jacob is named Jeff. The part set off towards the path towards where the caravan’s intended route. The party kept an eye out at a quick pace and looked for any sort of clue on where the caravan could be. During the first half of the day, it was pretty uneventful. In the later half of the party came across some tracks, the first sign of people since the party was sent out. Tracks were spotted, footprints with claw marks. Possibly six to twelve people spotted within these tracks.
The party followed these tracks and was led to the shouting of Orcs! They seemed to be holding up a group of people camping in the clearing, Jacob’s group. The partY approached them for a fight, but after a few moments something felt a bit off. The only one in Jacob’s group that looks even a bit nervous is Jacob Jackbobson himself. The group of Orcs and other bandits fled away from the party and only Bodrukk pursued them, but was unable to keep up with them. The party approached Mr. Jackbobson to figure out why he was so late. He just mentioned that they were short on their magical supplies and they were a bit short changed by their seller. Something seemed off with what Jacob was trying to convince the party of. The party questioned the other members of Jacob’s group, and learned that Jacob already sold all of the magical supplies in some sort of get rich quick scheme. Additionally, the party learned that Jacob writes down everything that he does, just so he can tell his life story.
Jacob was distracted by Laudia while Snicket snuck through Jacob’s tent and read a bit through Jacob’s journal. His plan revealed that he knew Onadbyr would send only two people to look for him, so once those people arrived, he’d have a third party attack the Onadbyr members and steal their weapons. This idiotic plan failed fortunately enough for our current adventuring party of six people. Additionally he knew he could sell all of his magical goods to the bandits and get very rich! This plan was read out loud to the rest of Jacob Jackbobson’s companions. That was the last straw, everyone turned on him. Laudia MenDaughter, the newly appointed leader, knocked out Jacob. Laudia suggested that her and her other companions come with the party to buy back the goods that Jacob sold. Everyone set off with the caravans to the bandits, with Jacob Jackbobson tied to the top of one of the caravans.
The party arrived at the group of bandits that Jacob sold everything to. Laudia wished to negotiate for the oils back, seeing as asking for all the magical goods pack seemed unreasonable . The lizardfolk of the group were a bit unconvinced, but was calmed down when Grist offered the rest of the sweets in his possession. In the end, the party was able to negotiate for two crates worth of Oils that preserves food.
