Samara has hired some of us to stop an auction about something called a gold slime. Taru apparently heard that it's something that turns anything it touches to gold, like the story of that old king. The auction's not until tonight, but the frogs have some bright ideas on how to subvert the auction, so we head towards the venue and get ready.

The five of us show up and Mantella and Sahona immediately get to work. Mantella writes something on the sign outside, while Sahona scopes out the buffet. Mantella then manages to trick the rabbit bouncer, convincing them that he's actually the lawyer Holly Crown, and getting backstage. Sutton also hears about a possible assassination plot here. I lean on a chair and find out its really sticky... turns out to be a chair mimic, I free myself and the mimic is assailed by the guards of the auction house, but it tells us that there're more of it and that it's boss is a Medusa. I lost track of Sahona in the chaos, but as we look around the showroom for more mimics, I see Sahona shimmering back into view. I think a guard sees him, so I think quick and assert to the guard that we need to be checking everything, giving Sahona time to make himself look natural. Taru manages to use a catchy tune to reveal more mimics, and coerces them all to leave. The auction isn't taking place for a few more hours, so we leave.

We arrive back later at the auction time, in time to overhear that Warden Honeystride was hired to protect the items, but the valuables went missing! So they went away, but we stuck around to watch over the showroom for the supposed assassination. We sit down to enjoy the event and Mantella thinks he's figured out the assassins. Him and Sahona take one of them aside and they turn into a medusa, and runs away! The guards come over and start beating up the other suspect, and Life Giver puts them on the ground. We give them a chance to give up, but after taking a brutal strike from my glaive and some intimidating words from Taru, they give up. The medusa and the assassin were apparently unrelated, and when we head outside, we see the medusa unconscious, held underwater by Sahona. We also find out the note about the assassination was not written by an assassin, but by a guy with a really unfortunate name.

We decide to bring the medusa back to Samara and she recognizes the medusa as one of her sisters, which makes sense to her for why they'd be looking for the Midas Finger. We retrieved the finger and convinced Samara to leave it with the council, probably locked up nice and tight.
