We met up early in the morning when we heard the council had put out another job to visit the mysterious fort on that strange island. From what we heard, some notable changes had taken place in those weathered halls, particularly the piles of rubble had been replaced with foliage, and the strange rotting corpse that people report having seen on the ceiling had disappeared. We met up with the First Minister of the Holy Mackerel, a local fisherman and priest. He took us to the island, and asked us to get some eggs that were in a nest he found near a murky puddle. When we went to investigate the nest, we found a giant lizard that chased after us. I stared the beast in the face and tried to fight it, only to take a particularly nasty bite for trying to do so, only making it out alive thanks to Boophis' quick thinking. I may have been taken down in one hit, but by Gorum's Greatsword, that was fun! As written in the ancient manuscripts, "My B". Needless to say, we did not get the eggs, there was no way we were getting past a beast of that strength. When we made our way to the room with the slab, we saw that it had been moved, and a score of tally marks were along its back, with the twentieth being marked by black ichor. It looks like the beast we encountered beforehand was the twentieth wave of that fight. After returning the slab, Iza had the idea of boarding up the windows to keep outside attackers from getting in, and moving the casting couch from the blacksmith room into the tablet chamber for cover. The Minister came by to check on us, and Pomba immediately removed the slab. The first wave was a bunch of giant rats, one of them almost got the Minister, but Iza made quick work of it. The rats we encountered carried an unpleasant disease that Pomba and I contracted. A quick trip to Kasumi after the mission was enough to stave it off, but it made the rest of the fight rather unpleasant. There was also a big swarm of rats, but Pomba immediately crushed them before any of us could see what it was capable of. The second wave contained some nasty-looking dogs that were infested with giant ticks, upon looking further into some old bestiaries, these creatures were called Troll Hounds. We could barely take on the hounds, as the leeches made quick work of relieving us of our blood. Pomba had a weird look in his eyes when he saw the blood after the ticks were dealt with, I guess he must be uncomfortable around it. I eventually lost track of the hounds, and it sounded like there was a commotion in the slab chamber before Iza returned the slab. It is a shame we could not get past the second wave this time, but understandable considering what we were up against. I will have to take some time to recover from the lizard bite, that wound felt pretty deep.
