Associates cleared a sizeable undead infestation from a remote cabin.
Log
I was part of a group of Associates who were hired to aid a village some distance away from Onadbyr with an undead problem that presented itself only on Moondays. Though we attempted to depart early enough to give ourselves a window to investigate, poor weather caused us to not arrive until the day in question. We approached the village and discovered that it was already under attack by a horde of the undead. We struck quickly and were able to defeat the undead before they could cause too much harm.
After speaking to a cleric in the village, we learned that the undead were coming from a nearby abandoned cabin. We followed the tracks of the undead who had attacked the village back to the cabin and began to clear the undead we found. Once the outside was cleared, we moved inside and found that the house was in its expected abandoned state. We were fortunate in the basement and Boophis was able to find traces of a hidden passage. Inside, a mage (seemingly undead) was in the middle of raising another undead abomination. Again, we cleared out the infestation.
It seems that the hidden area beneath the cabin had been converted into the lab of an undead necromancer. Several more undead were chained up in locked cells in the northern hall. Boophis proved invaluable in deciphering the notes of the necrommancer. The notes identified the one who had been raising the undead as a zombie lord. It seems that the one who had written the notes was not the one who had been raising the undead here. A lever in the room that contained the notes released all the chained undead. We were able to clear them relatively quickly.
In the southern hallway, we came across a room in which an individual seemed to be preaching in Necril, proclaiming in the name of a Set (A diety of some sort?). Our attempted ambush fell short when the presence of the creature, some sort of mummy, proved enough to stop our charge in its tracks. Fortunately, we were able to overcome it with the use of some bottled sunlight that Boophis was able to provide. By this point, our group was feeling a bit worn down, but we continued on. One doorway remained.
The final chamber had a ritual circle and a lone figure within. Another mummy stood guard in the chamber. We were able to quickly overwhelm it. With that, the area was cleared and we reported our success to the town. The task proved far more difficult than expected, but served as excellent preparation for my upcoming Trial.
