We get hired to go back to Lancaster, to the inner courtyard past where the bridge where the Nasurgeth was. I'm stronger than I was then, so maybe I'll be able to contribute more than just getting thrown around by an overgrown seafood platter. Apparently the War Council considered this a big enough job that they sent another one of their guys to assist. Some old man who I forgot the name of, all I know is that it started with a "Gr" sound, Gronky or something? Anyways, we get into the building and there's dried blood everywhere, and there's traces of lost souls under the ground. Kirrily immediately rushes into the center courtyard, classic Kirrily. She's certainly strong enough to back up that confidence. Something causes Miles to start attacking General Mutt. The old guy quickly uses a calm spell to get him to cut it out. I step into the courtyard and see a big tornado of lost souls forming around a statue of some knight type of feller, looks like the place is more haunted than a graveyard going through a famine. From behind me, it sounds like General Mutt was also affected by whatever sort of confusion effect was affecting Miles, who soon starts climbing the walls of the building. I hear Cyrus saying something to General Mutt along the lines of "you better start praying or dancing". The idea of someone like General Mutt dancing is a real hoot. The spirits within the courtyard compel me to want to start hitting myself, but jokes on them, I already wanted to do that. A quick little prayer to Zon-Kuthon gets rid of the tornado, but not before it picks me up and throws me around a bit. There's a scream from the general area where Miles is, we've got company. We see some ghosts, and what I can only assume is a banshee approaching. I assume it's a banshee because of the scream it let out that almost killed the old man. It doesn't like the sun magic he cast on it, so I rush in to try and keep him safe. I can't even hit the damn thing as it runs away screaming, almost taking me out in the process. Everyone else chases after it, but I can't keep up because I got knocked out and had to get healed. We take down the banshee and rest up a bit before heading into the palace through a balcony. I never did have a taste for rich people's design sensibilities, and this place sure is ugly. After a quick look around, we find what looks like the royal chambers, including what looks like the queen of the city. I figure she looks lively enough, and try and convince her to leave, since she only has one subject remaining, that vampire lady back home. General Mutt agrees with that sentiment, but Kirrily, the old man, and Cyrus don't, and they start trying to kill her. I can't let this happen, so I try and minimize the damage. Miles punches the building. Good for him. Anyways, I fail to protect the queen, and we join Miles in punching the building a whole bunch since apparently it's haunted or something. After that, the old man and I stay behind for a few days to consecrate the building so it can't get haunted again. The morning after the fight with the queen, General Mutt and I realize that we were under the effect of a charm spell that made us friendly to the queen. I feel so guilty about this that as Commander of Desperate Hope, I have to put myself under arrest to atone for my crimes. I'm such a failure that I couldn't even turn against my allies properly.
Addendum by Victoria: This log looks nothing like what I wrote. The events of what happened are the same, but this is under no circumstances the way I normally write logs. Why does it mention Mutt being General of Desperate Hope, why does it mention me being Commander of Desperate Hope, and why is every mention of Commander Grist replaced with a vague reference to "that old man"? Commander Grist might be more frail nowadays, but he is not that old for an elf.
