During the Collapse, this metropolis- or the closest thing one can get to one in this world- was besieged by hordes of undead, which now walk the streets of this fortified city. Everyone knows to keep a wide berth, as one mistake might find you and your party overrun.
With the strength of the Associates increasing, the Council has commissioned several parties to make the trek to Lancaster and begin clearing out the city, lest the undead there become too strong and eventually threaten the city itself.
Through the use of warding magic, a main path has been cleared through the city, with many locations cleared along the way:
- The Gates, the entrance to the city.
- The Farmhouse, the staging ground and designated resting area for any parties entering Lancaster. An old map of the city resides within.
- The Hospital, a place of blight and disease.
- The Jail, the source of the Graveknights that have been a consistent thorn in the sides of the associates.
- The Hellknight Citadel, which was first entered by associates as part of Zeal's Hellknight test, and later returned to in order to be cleared of undead Hellknights. It was even later returned to in search of answers to the Graveknight problem.
- The city streets, a path cleared to the palace which is barred shut by a 60 foot wall, an equally massive gate, and locked down by pillars wrapped with chain.
- The Graveyard was attempted, and later *cleared of its necromancer issue.
- The Palace itself was scouted out, but it has not been fully cleared yet.
- The Slums were once burned down in the chaos, and were eventually cleared of fiery undead by the associates.
- An abandoned warehouse was investigated as part of the Paravicar's notes, but the only thing of importance found was an underground fighting ring.
- The library was a pressing matter for Kali and Cyrus Leyvald to investigate, ever since Kali found the key for it in the underground fighting ring.
- The market street was once the location of commerce and life, but has since become a place filled with death and bodies, no longer cleaned up by the "street sweeper" as the associates took to calling it.
- The curio shop was, and still is, filled with all sorts of oddities ranging from bland trinkets to an iron maiden trap. It required further investigation not once, not twice, but three times before associates got to the bottom (both literally and figuratively) of this curious shop.
- Associates tried to delve deeper into the palace, but took a wrong turn and ended up diving deeper than they were prepared for. They later came back and cleared out the outer palace, rather than the inner palace they were originally meant to explore.
- Once more, associates enter the palace, finally clearing it out and warding it so that the undead may finally leave the palace be.
The Graveknight Chronicles: The Graveknights have been their own problem, even outside of Lancaster. These two cursed suits of armor were first defeated in The Jail, then brought back to Onadbyr by Sade Mrysky. After some time in the halls of Clan Ashenforge, the armors rejuvenated themselves and struck once more. Bright Eyes was slain in the battle, and they were then handed over to the Round Table Council to be sealed away until a solution could be found. They needed to be sent to the positive energy plane, thrown into the heart of a volcano, or disintegrated. None of these had been feasible for a long time, resulting in them continually resurrecting in storage. They were thus put back to rest not one, not two, not three, not four, but five times. Though a solution was proposed by the hopeful discovery of a nearby underground volcano, ultimately it was Kali learning how to cast the disintegrate spell that allowed the associates to finally put down the pair.
