Associates disinfect and clean out a well full of creatures both tiny and comically enlarged.

Log

Two lines 'setting the scene' in Taru's usual style are crossed out, the rest of the log is formatted in a much more formal fashion. Taru is also never heard telling the tale of this adventure in a tavern, and if asked, she just says that nothing spectacular happened, they only killed some weak creatures infesting a well.

Note to the Council: A follow up on this mission is absolutely necessary, though Councilwoman Ratschild is aware of the matter an almost certainly already organising the next expedition.

This mission was undertaken by Aleth, Amber May, Bees, Chrysanthemum Lavandula Orchidaceae Delphinium Helianthus, and myself, Tarina Autio.

Councilwoman Ratschild informed us of a well in the eastern forests that had been contaminated by a white substance. A closer examination showed it to be a large amount of tiny living beings of the same kind, overtaking where many different creatures of a similar size swam in an older sample. Boiling the water killed most, whereas large area spells harming any living creatures resulted in a complete eradication. Interestingly, purifying spells appeared to clean the creatures themselves rather than removing them.

The well the sample was taken from is located amidst the ruins of a tiny hamlet, we could only make out the remains of three buildings. We found the footsteps of one other person in the area, likely the councilwoman's scout. The well shaft extended about 15 metres down and opened into a larger cavern.

Before climbing in, Bees attempted to dilute the well water with purified water, to little effect. They then seemed to be compelled to jump in to 'atone', but it is unclear if that originated from the well, or was a fey urge of their own. They did not attempt to do so again after I held them back. A further attempt at purification by lowering Chrysanthemum on a rope for her to cast a large area harm spell was successful.

Beyond the tiny white creatures, the cavern below the well also contained six stone creatures entirely unfamiliar to all of us. They had the vague shape of men, but with grossly exaggerated and additional arm and shoulder muscles, both extending far above their heads. Two of them were churning the waters with a stone wheel, indicating that those conditions might be better for the white creatures. Beyond this and occasionally uttering "egg" or "no egg", they showed no signs of intelligence. Their oversized muscles also make their movement cumbersome and ill targeted, leading to them posing little danger in combat, despite their moderately powerful punches. They do, however, appear to be immune to at least some types of magic, and are able to temporarily disrupt casting on touch.

The six creatures immediately attacked us upon entrance, but were easily dispatched with only minor, quickly healed injuries. Their bodies appeared to re-infest the water with the tiny white creatures, marking them as the origin. To ensure completely removal, Aleth also detonated the stone wheel they used before we returned.

Note also that Chrysanthemum suggests a possible connection to Sir Egg.
