Log
Not long ago, Melfyra had an incident where she locked herself away in panic due to the fact that there is actually a Reflection running around of her, an evil vampire that's been causing problems. And the other day, Clam found a near-dead Hesperid (named Cerionis) in the slums - it saved her, and she heeded a warning about something happening to her old grove. Or rather, a vision had by her queen. When we finally heard the tale, and after we considered the time frame, we figured it was already probably too late for them, but we should still go and check out this Sunset Mountain.
The main issue we ended up coming across was that there was a giant, unnatural blood blizzard raging over the mountain. Grist and I performed a ritual that gave us about a day and a half to climb this mountain before the weather would correct itself. Clam was the only one among us who couldn't fly forever, so the rest of us kept watch as it made a trek up the mountain. A creature stopped it - it looked like a dark and twisted version of Cerionis, or at least one of her sisters. While Clam engaged in dialogue we figured out these were a kind of creature known as a Fetch, some kind of twisted form that can appear when something dies horrifically, though it was certainly not an undead. As we traded information, Clam began to engage in combat, so we swooped down to help it out. It had regenerative abilities, but we managed to put it down thanks to the power of fire.
As Clam continued climbing, we kept encountering more of these Fetches, but only ever one at a time, so they really weren't that big of a threat, until we got to the top of the mountain. When we broke past the tree-line, we saw what looked like Melfyra stringing a bow, as well as a dragon, a twisted form of what must have been the Hesperid Queen, and another batch of the same kinds of Fetches we kept encountering up this mountain. Not-Melfyra teleported away before I could teleport to her and run her through with my blade, so we just had to settle for all of the monsters that were now occupying the mountaintop. As Illiam and Grist began casting spells for our benefit, so too did the Dragon and the Not-Queen, so Serene, Clam and I decided to kick start the action a little early.
These Fetches were actually quite organized, working to try to take down the weaker members of our group before swarming the rest. Unfortunately for them, the weakest of us was still more than capable of dealing with them. As I activated my sparks, we got to work setting them all on fire repeatedly as the Dragon lumbered its way towards us. Turned out the Dragon had been turned into a Vampire, as had the Queen, but with no coffin in sight, when they eventually were destroyed, instead of returning to a coffin, they were truly just destroyed.
Everyone got their opportunity to do a lot of work on killing our foes, Clam got to throw the dragon, something it seemed really excited to do. Illiam and Cyrus kept blasting all of our foes' minds. Serene got to scare everything and disrupt a lot of their spellcasting. Grist did great work keeping everyone alive. And I got to set most things on fire. That dragon was pretty resilient though, and the Fetches were adamant about trying to take out Illiam, Grist, and Cyrus. But luckily we got out without too grievous of wounds. I mop up the last of the Fetches after the death of the Queen and the Dragon, and we teleport back to Onadbyr to talk to Cerionis again. Though we didn't seem to solve the problem of the large unnatural cloud. That'll probably resolve on its own, probably after we deal with this Lefarym. Apparently she stole this cool bow called the Sky-Piercing Bow, and with some harvested blood from some special people, she can perform a ritual called the Black Parade to permanently eclipse the sun. So. We should probably do something about that. We have until the winter solstice to track her down and and stop that from happening.
