A trader familiar to Onadbyr arrived with dire news, claiming her caravan and a settlement to be under siege by wolf riders. I was the last one to show up, my allies being Jemerov, Jovial, and Victoria. We rode out post-haste, taking a path Nakaya the trader knew would lead us to our destination sooner. We met up with a group of gnomes, who were busy working on a metal contraption. Nakaya seemed to have arranged travel, and we managed to convince the gnome Reya to assist us in the coming battle; the contraption was the method of transportation, and we arrived with haste to the camp of the Horse Riders, a group who seemed to know Victoria and Nakaya well, receiving some more allies in the form of a distracting screen.
Spending a night going over battle plans, we departed for the region around the settlement, taking in the purview of the siege. With my talents, I managed to sneak my way onto one of the hillside paths leading to the village, but the rest of my group joined up and the camp ahead caught wind of what was happening. With quick movements and brutality, we quickly managed to clear the camp, and I rushed into the settlement with Nakaya. The others would follow not long behind, but while I was waiting, I got to take in a full view of the siege line, their response to our assault, and the situation inside the settlement.
With a working battle plan, our tactic was to send myself and an armed escort down the path we had taken earlier in the day, before sending everyone else down the far path, in the hopes that my assault would create an opening. But the side I tried to feint on was less protected than the other. We quickly took over the path and reached their camp, where I encountered a Wizard catfolk and her dire wolf, but we were able to make short work of her thanks to our superior armaments, but I could tell from across the way that our plan had stalled, but considering the situation, their flank had performed incredibly well. The ratfolk who made up the bulk of their troops were found to be lacking. I also came across a roguish catfolk, who was easily put down thanks to our long ranged support.
By the time I had returned to help relieve Jovial's flank, the fighting on both sides had stalled from an exhaustion of resources, both in terms of materiel and of people. With the bodies on both sides piling up, we agreed to a temporary ceasefire, where Nakaya, Jovial, and I met with the remaining leaders of the siege. Their explanation of their actions nearly led me to claiming their heads right then and there, claiming to want to rule over these people as their lords, to make them their slaves. Despite their claims that they would likely lead easier lives under their rule, I refused to believe them, but chose to compromise to end the bloodshed. Nakaya got to work with the people of the village, and allowing any who would willingly submit to the catfolk leadership to have their freedoms stripped away. A painful compromise, but one that hopefully leads to less death for both the newly enslaved as well as the refugees.
We made our way back to Onadbyr, taking a night in a cliffside cave near a spectral disturbance, and one of our new traveling companions told ghost stories to try to scare us, but my thoughts could only go toward my dad... The rest of the trip was uneventful, and Nakaya paid us.
